I was passing through the area and decided to check out the disc golf course. Unfortunately, the summer course was closed due to the Christmas lights event. I did play the winter course and I was not disappointed. Plenty of different elevations and technical shots which I enjoy more than just whipping the disc as far as one can, though there was some of that too. Some of the grounds were worn and not all tee pads were concrete but this has no bearing on my enjoyment of the sport. Signage was good even for being temporary winter signage. There is also a main map to reference. One complaint is the Christmas lights were a nuance and the traffic but then ba-humbug on me. Pictures are limited as I did not get started till near dusk. If I ever pass through the area again, I would definitely try to play the summer course.

Another night of beautiful lights! The weather was perfect to stroll through the lights, drink cocoa and warm up by the fire. We plan to go again this year. We brought a picnic lunch to eat after we walked through the lights. #feltlikeahallmarkmovie #VisitEffingham #ChristmasinEffingham #winterbucketlist #enjoyillinois

Very nice little town park. Clean grounds bathroom picnic tables and lot of shady trees to sit under on a hot day. Even the neighbors were friendly.

It's the home park for me. With plenty of baseball fields and a good deal of open space, it's no wonder the parking lots overflow in the summer: it's a nice place to be. There are some spots to build cook-fires, which I appreciate, though those locations are quickly dwindling. Disc golf is available, as well as a tennis court, five ball diamonds of varying sizes, two batting cages ( not available year- round ), five pavilions, one brick restroom adjacent to the central parking lot , another brick restroom southwest of the largest ball diamond, and two playgrounds. Other seasonal features include functional drinking fountains, a snow cone cart, a concession stand, and a porta- potty by the eastern...

This is multi-purpose outdoor recreation area covering 30 acres on the eastern edge if town on Temple Ave. Effingham Community Park as it is locally known features three ball diamonds if varying sizes, tennis and basketball courts, a Frisbee golf course and a handicap accessible children's playground. It also had two pavilions for outdoor gatherings that cash l can be reserved through the Effingham Park District Office. On a warm summer day, you won't find more places to cook if in the shade...
