The best paint ball place in AZ, unless you're trying to go competitive/speedball. Fighter town has 4 awesome maps. 3 for public matches and a 4th called the practice feild incase you dont wanna have your kids get shot by regular players or you're new to paintball. Great move! The owners are amazing and definitely care about everyone having a pleasant experience.
First time there I went alone. I checked in and the lady behind the counter, one of the owners, was so great. She walked me through everything. Explained the rules and told me that players that bring there own gear saturday get in for free on sunday which I think all fields should do. Makes a 150$ weekend a 80$ weekend. So I can afford to play every weekend. Admission and air is only 25. Pretty sure that's the most competitive price in AZ as well.
The only unpleasantness was that when I showed up there was an issue with balancing teams. There was 8 customs and about 9 rentals. (Quite a bit for most fields at open but they get up to 100 players easy each weekend.)
It was clear the 7 other customers beside myself were regulars and was made of of two parties who mentioned to the ref that they should do all of them vs me and the rentals. I thought he was joking but he wasnt and worse yet the ref made that the teams for the first game.
We were slaughtered.
They called for the next game and I mentioned that we should balance the teams but instead of making some of the customs switch the ref asked and none of them wanted to. So, we played again and guess what...
We got slaughtered.
The third game came around and again I mentioned that the teams were unbalanced.
But this time the players on the other team started to make fun of me for not "taking it like a man"
So, I pretty much made up my mind to leave. I didnt play the third game. Instead I started packing up my stuff. Then I thought about the rentals and how lame there experience would be if this was the place to go and get destroyed by customs. I went back to the counter and mentioned this to the lady behind the counter and she was shocked. She said that's not how they run things and that Henry himself would be talking to the ref.
I guess during the third game they made some of the customs switch which lead to a physical altercation after one player didnt call his hit. So, when I went out for the fourth game Henry was livid. He called out the players who were involved in the altercation said if he heard of them doing that stuff ever again they would be banned from the feild. It wasnt a slap on the wrist Henry was really fired up. Which just shows how passionate he is about paintball.
Not sure if this was on purpose or not but there was a different ref making teams for the rest of the day. He did a much better job at balancing them.
I've returned 3 times since then and only had one other time were the teams were stacked. Totally not Henreys doing. I understand the some if not all the refs regularly play there as well. Its difficult to not let the regulars influence their team selection but this time the players were super chill about being split up. Definitely the cool regulars.
I always see Henry walking around talking to the players and making sure everyone, customs, rentals, airsoft, is having a good time. Which is why I play paintball. It's also why this is my favorite place to play! Seriously, the owners here care and if it's your first time paintballing or you're taking the kids this is the place...
Read moreUpdate: Fightertown is still my favorite spot to play airsoft. The staff, owners, and players are great people. Especially the staff. If you bring an issue up to them they take it seriously and address it immediately. Also, they do airsoft rentals now which is really cool to get new people into the sport. Lots of kids are drawn to paintball which is fine but airsoft hurts less and is a lot more fun in my opinion. So you kids who like COD, try airsoft, it's real life COD. =)
If you're into airsoft, you've gotta check out Fightertown Paintball Park. Seriously, it's hands down the best field I've ever been to. The staff? Amazing - they're on their game, super helpful, and always make sure everyone's having a great time. And the owner, he's a great guy. Super friendly and genuinely cares about the community.
Speaking of the community, it's like nothing else. You step onto the field and it's like joining a big welcoming family. Everyone, from the hardcore regulars to the newbies, is just there to have a good time and share the love for airsoft. The fields themselves are top-notch too - really well maintained and designed. It's a blast every time I go.
If you haven't been, you're missing out. Trust me, you'll have an awesome time! I don't believe they have rental guns so you'll need to bring your own. They have everything else you would need though.
Edit: I just wanted to add that recently I was even more in pressed by the ownership of FT. I'm not sure exactly what went down but for the first time in my experience, all HPA airsofters (including myself) were forced to participate in a random FPS integrity check mid day. I loved it! 4 guys were found to be slightly over FPS but nothing egregious. The owner was not having it and had all HPA tournament locked for the rest of the day. This just speaks to the ethics and focus on safety of this field. I personally wished all HPA was required to tourney lock (including myself) because it's on less thing to worry about when trying to have a fun day out at the field....
Read moreI would like to start off saying that my sons and I had fun playing paintball on Saturday, because we always have fun playing paintball its just one of those things you do with a smile. All in all we had a good time and I hope this is some good constructive criticism, as we have played all the fields AZ has to offer more then a couple of times.
Here are the Pros and Cons about Fightertown.
First the PROS - The three maps they run are all very fun and different from one another!! Second, the prices are very reasonable. And Third, the consistency of starting new games was on point.
Now to list the CONS - Its way to over crowded with tons of rentals (maybe because of the prices). To the point were they could be running a couple of games simultaneously (they have enough referee's to do so). Second, there was literally a long line to get a air refill, because THEY have to fill the air for you, even if its your own marker that was a first (what the heck!) And they dont have 4500psi either (so you have to fill more often). Let me explain, it was the second time in about a six week period we have played at this field and they had the same lame excuse that it is broken (get it fixed, it might help with the line). Thirdly, the owner Henry is very pushing between games. Dont get me wrong, I like the tempo like I mentioned earlier. But when you can't get your own air and have to wait in line it is hard to be quick between games. And plus don't forget who the...
