We managed to stumble on a free tour day cost is usually $5 per ticket and well worth it) so that was an additional bonus. Gift shop was very clean and organized and the attendant was friendly and helpful. Overall exceptional experience and would definitely recommend.

A very nice lighthouse adjacent to one of the best public parks on the coast of Lake Michigan.

Empire is one of my favorite towns on the Lake Michigan coastline. Quaint, sleepy, and friendly are three words that come to mind when I think of this beautiful hamlet.

The public beach here is one of the best in Northern michigan, featuring a small but well-kept lighthouse.
