Empire Area Museum — Attraction in Empire Township

You’d be surprised how this small, quaint town has such an amazing museum that has an abundance of Empire relics, all beautifully presented. The museum has four small buildings: the transportation barn, the hose house, the school house, and the main building, which has two floors. It’s devoted to the history of Empire, but even if Empire’s history isn’t really your thing, the antiquities and the presentation will surely get you interested. You can easily spend a couple hours there, although we’ve been there several times, and always manage to find something new...

Check out the history in this place!!!! More than you could soak up in one visit or 10! We came by for heritage days and we all learned so much about the history of this beautiful area. Lots of volunteers and friendly folks. Ever want to see the 1st snowmobile sold in Empire? It's here in all it's refurbished glory. Absolutely wonderful! This museum should be on your list of places to visit when in the Sleeping Bear area. The main building is two stories full of exhibits and artifacts.
