The Good: It's a very nice dog park with a large grass play area, an area for new dogs who need a slow intro to socializing with other dogs, and an area for little dogs. There are also stainless steel drinking fountains/bowls to keep your pal hydrated, lots of seating for people, and a small area with agility obstacles. The people are always friendly and the dogs almost always are well socialized and well behaved.
The bad: People are not always so good about picking up after their own dogs, despite the fact that there are lots of dog bag dispensers, so you have to watch your step. Don't wear flip flops or your new Uggs to this park if you plan to walk in the grass! The park has always had some irrigation issues, so there are a few spots that get quite wet and even muddy. There are two months every year where they shut the park down for a month to revitalize the grass, but that's as much of a pro as it is a con.
This parks still the first one I'll take my dog to when she needs some mingling with...
Read moreWe have been coming to this park since it opened. I have three dogs two of which are huskies and they love this dog park. They make a lot of friends every time we visit which is once to twice a week. We used to live in Encinitas but have visited this park from other areas We moved to. Reasons why I personally love the park is it’s completely fenced in I don’t have to worry about my dogs getting out. Most people who visit are aware of how dog parks work & are very responsible with the opening and closing of the entrance gates.
This park is huge, mostly clean… Clearly very well-maintained… Very beautiful landscaping… And in recent years they’ve added umbrellas to the benches and I think everyone’s favorite feature is the fountain that provides freshwater to our thirsty dogs.
*Note that this park is CLOSED IN MAY AND OCTOBER every year for maintenance. It’s also closed Thursday afternoons for...
Read moreIf you like dogs, this place is great! There is one large fenced off area for all dogs, and a small one for just small dogs, and another small area for excitable dogs or if you want to have them acclimate for awhile first.
There is a concrete path all around the main area surrounding a very large grass area so you can walk around, and there are 3 or 4 benches all around if you want to sit with plenty of shady spots all around. There is a bag station that the city fills for clean-up, and there are trash cans all along the path. There's even a dog-level drinking fountain near the entrance.
There are two double gated entrances, sort of like air locks, that prevent dogs from escaping. All the dogs that I've seen here love it and play well together. It was s a really great experience for both...
