I love the "little" pool it gradually goes into the deeper 3 or 4 foot section and the slide 🛝 the kids love it there...
I just hate how many kids from the camps go, it seems like 95% of the pool is filled with camp kids and it gets really crowded and takes forever to go through the line for the slide or even move in the pools..they also do not have enough umbrellas for the people who don't swim, and people take chairs in case they need to sit at some point during their swim time and a family will take all the chairs and maybe use 2 out of the 4-5 they took, leaving nothing for anyone else....
they also do a 15 minute adult swim at the end of every hour and the only children allowed in the pool at that time are 3 and under with an adult ...which I'm not sure why the kids that have been waiting in line for the slide can't keep going? Sometimes they have been in line for 20 minutes, the slide has its own section of the pool all blocked off and your not allowed to swim in there anyway 🤷🏻♀️, kind of dumb but that's just my opinion..
The kids love to go there...we are not good enough swimmers for the diving boards so we don't do that...we are learning to swim so we do go in the bigger pool where we can't touch to do some proper swimming.
If you leave you just stamp.your hand and then you can come back in all day from open to close and there is a playground right behind the pool and a snack bar where you can get school...
Read moreThis is a great park. Huge playground area, several smaller playgrounds all around the place. Big kid swings, little kid swings. Tennis courts, several pavilions, basketball court, skate park, trick bike area (with jumps and stuff). Usually it's very clean and there are recycling and garbages nearby.
The two downsides to me is that parking can get very tight when there is a few baseball games going on. It makes it a lot harder for the public to enjoy the space. Also the pool opens very late in the season. I've been told it's because the only people willing to work as lifeguards are high schoolers. I think with all the money in the towns they should be able to make that job more attractive to other people (pay higher wages, better benefits, etc). Considering what essex pays in taxes there is no reason that pool shouldn't be open from memorial day onward. Update the pool also closes quite early in the season for the same reason. I'd recommend getting a season pass to save money if you come here several times a week (otherwise don't bother). Most of the lifeguards are...
Read moreI've taken my kids here for swim lessons and now my grandkids. Great place to learn to swim. You can start when they're babies and the pool you go in is one that you walk in like the beach and it goes to 4 feet by the slide. They also have a lap pool and a diving area. So you can take the whole family and all have something to do. The rest if the park is great too. They have various activities for the kids to join. They also have a great area for the kids to run and a pretty decent playground for them to play on. They're activities for adults and events for the family at night from time to time. It's a good place for community events like the fireworks on the 4th. Just need to check out their calender to see what's happening. I definitely recommend people to check them out. A good place to have fun...
