I'm a graduate student and research associate in the city. Over the past 2 years, whenever I needed some selfcare I would unhesitatingly go here straight. Lately their services had been detoriating. My last visit I got an eye brow threaded - no powder was applied or area prepping, despite I was at work with same make up all day. She didn't even ask what shape or how I wanted it. Then finished without asking if the results were acceptable. No aloe after or didn't even offer a napkin to wipe of stray hair from threaded red skin. Very unprofessional, there are basic service manners. Today I went in for a haircut and got the same lady. I asked if a discount is possible, they gave me some $10 off. Thanked them graciously many times. She soaked my hair with a spray, cut it in 2 snips, straight at the back and the brad mondo (short YouTube video) method chin length in the middle. And then started taking the gown off. No combing , no parting choice, there was water dripping down on my face and stood there amused. I had to ask for the brush so I could get it to some form and told "I still have to step outside after this" she just kept giggling. No salon ever sends a customer out with wet hair. At least offer a napkin if it's dripping on their face! How rude. And don't get me wrong, she wasn't quiet. The whole time she was sales pitching, I guess to impress her bosses. But I was thinking why would I give you a cent if THIS is the quality of your services now. I usually always tip them, today I was just holding back the whole time from asking for my money back. Don't get me wrong I still paid $35 for one half only bottom comb straight cut one touch and one straight cut in the front. When I had asked to blend the front in a little she started giving even more sales pitches as if I asked for a style. No just angle, it's pointless arguing with people who like to create problems and no value for service. Cherry on top: I had given blouses to the tailor for a wedding. I gave everything with ample time on April 20th. Yesterday was the delivery date, when I went to pick up, firstly the lady asks me to look for it, everything was in opaque white bags, she was too lazy to read the tags even. Then turns out they didn't do anything! The cloth was still just a cloth. I called an hour later when the tailor was available, she started of by yelling at me "I'm not owner" no acknowledgement that she didn't hear "OR", then she insisted I take them on 21st, the wedding is on 20th. She kept saying 28. I had to repeatedly 3-4 times clear 20 (two- zero), then tells me I can pick up at night on 20th. How does that work?! To wear to sleep after wedding? I decide to go pick up the cloths and get a refund, even then she has to take 2 customers before me coz it's a long process. Doesn't matter to them I waited over an hour, not to mention since April 20 for NOTHING. They kept apologizing that the tailor was ill. Why didn't they just call me sooner so I had time to make a back up plan? They had my number and order. The owner really needs to pay attention here again. For review, I will never come back to this store. I will recommend everyone to only go there if you want to be treated like you are entering someone's living room and not a professional salon or boutique. And don't use their tailoring service, just send it far away if you have to, it will...
Read moreCustomer service here with tailoring is absolutely terrible. Dropped off wedding lehengas for the bride and sister of the bride one month before the wedding. They told us the date and time to pick up the outfits and when we arrived the tailor told us he didn’t even start - and the wedding was 3 days away. We had to hang out around the area for 5 hours even though we live hours away. Only the bride’s lehenga was ready. We drove back to our state and he told us to come back the next day at 12. We drove all the way back, arrived at 4 and the other lehenga STILL wasn’t ready. We had to hang out around town for a few hours again. He only ever finished 2/3 outfits we needed. One is still unfinished. Mind you the outfits were only finished once we expressed how we were treated so unprofessionally - all just 2 days before the wedding. The tailor was rude and unapologetic with several excuses.
I’d highly recommend driving or shipping to Edison, NJ to any experienced tailor there rather than have anyone go through what we went through. Even if you live far from NJ it is much less hassle. I’ve had excellent experiences with Ashok within Sitar Emporium. He is...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews on websites, but I’ve been so impressed countless times to the point where I knew I had to. I’ve been looking for a place to get my eyebrows threaded since moving to the area, and this is perfect! I used to hate getting my eyebrows done because I was always afraid they would take too much off or change the shape too drastically. This all changed when I gave it a shot with Sadaf. I am so lucky to have found her as she takes the time to study your eyebrows before getting started and makes sure to communicate with you throughout the process to see if you are comfortable and liking the work. I usually just get a clean up, but this time I decided to shape it up a little more (which is a little out of my comfort zone) and she executed it PERFECTLY. She will forever be my eyebrow lady, she is just that good. So if anyone is looking for THE BEST eyebrow lady, YOU NEED...
