The park trails are wide and easy to walk with soft pine needles as footing for many central trails. This is one of our favorite parks we like to take our dogs to because of the wide trails, easy to pull to the side to give space to those who pass us. However, lately every time we go there is at least one person who doesn't obey the leash laws, and we've run into several dogs running wild. Last Saturday we were almost attacked by a large unleashed dog charging from behind without warning, almost knocking one of us down, and probably would have had our 2 leashed German Shepherds not prevented it by scaring the dog away instantly. Could have been a very nasty fight had the dog decided to fight instead of flee. The owners were very far back on the trail, not apologetic. Seems like people think it's acceptable to treat this as their personal dog park and to ignore leash laws, even with dogs that charge at people and could cause injury. So these sort of people unfortunately have taken away any peace of mind walking the trails for me personally. Be prepared to defend yourself and your kids/ dogs from dogs running loose. Would have been 5 stars if not for the people with...
Read moreI had a great time at this park. I went for the first time in mid-March 2024. The trails were nice, well maintained, well labeled, and the park looked so fun. People seemed to enjoy the park with dogs or kids. The nature center is closed on Sundays, but looked nice from the outside. I hiked about 4 miles and there were more trails I’ll have to come back for. Horses were not permitted when I went due to muddy conditions, but it seems like a great place for horses in better conditions. I think there’s a few for horses and bikes. The park was free to park and hike though. This is a great outdoor place that feels far from the city while only being about a half hour out...
Read moreThis is a beautiful park with on-leash dog friendly trails where it isn't uncommon to come across wildlife. Deer, turtles, and birds are the norm, but I've even come across 4 young armadillos rooting beneath some trees, and twice now some sort of wild canid crossed the trail ahead of me. Likely a coyote but not 100% sure. The scenery is stunning. My children love the play area and we try and take some cracked corn to feed the geese and ducks once weekly if we can. They are often holding community events and the nature center is an awesome place to bring young nature enthusiast. Overall a wonderful experience and I'm pleased to have such a gem of a park in...
