Love the idea BUT we went on the coldest day of the year which is where we are having issues with the support staff and getting no where with emailing them… We do not care it was cold we are not asking for any refunds due to cold weather… we prepared for the weather and we were fine while there. This day was the only day we were able to go as our whole family so not complaining about that… however they do not communicate in a way most people would find about weather related issues. All 3 ticket holders for our big party got an email but it went to junk about rescheduling if we’d want to… like I said we couldn’t but some people probably would’ve liked to! They should send these alerts via text or something so it’s more visible for ticket holders. We did not see that it listed the MN location as a no tubing location. It says on the website “participating locations” well then they should post which locations are participating. We went for slides and tubing for all the kids and were very disappointed when a worker told us they didn’t have it. Only ONE slide was open the whole time we were there basically half of the place was shut down and blocked off and we only had one slide to keep older kids and adults entertained… if half the place is shut down why do we need to pay full price? It was absolutely ridiculous…. Getting in and out of the parking area was kind of a nightmare the signage was minimal so if you don’t know your way around it may be difficult for you. Support emails are a JOKE I emailed requesting at minimum a partial refund and now been going back and forth for over a week getting the same generic response about how they don’t issue refunds… well they need to for people who are extremely disappointed and upset at the experience.
Needless to say it was a lot of our families first time going to an ice castle experience & we are now scared to ever go again. This experience was not a good one especially for what they charge per person for...
Read moreI visited the ice castle for the first time on a Thursday, and it was nice that it wasn't overly crowded. However, parking was a bit of a nightmare. There were no clear signs to help us find a spot, and I almost collided with other cars several times. This was due to cars coming out from in front of us, the side of us and randomly turning in our direction. It would have been great if staff had been around to direct with parking. The signage at the state fair entrance was minimal and hard to see, which made us doubt if we were going the right way. The check-in process was a bit disappointing; it would have been more efficient to handle the terms and conditions during the online purchase instead of at check-in. I had to agree to the terms for everyone, which took quite a bit of time. Also, there was no staff at the entrance, so anyone could just walk in. For the price we paid, the place felt quite small, and we managed to see everything in under 10 minutes, which was really disappointing. We tried to make the most of it by taking photos, but that didn’t take long either. The ice sculptures were so few; I counted fewer than 10. I think once is enough for me.
Recommend: Larger and more consistent signs for parking directions would be a great improvement. Staff should assist more effectively with parking and check-in processes. It would be helpful to allow guests to agree to terms and conditions online rather than in person. More transparency regarding the ice culture present would also enhance the experience. Additionally, signs for the sculpture and slides need better visibility, as many were on transparent acrylic and placed on the ground. Finally, reconsidering...
Read moreI went with three other people this past Friday. I thought the ticket prices were fair even though we paid peak costs. The signage was pretty self-explanatory though they could have used more. There was ample parking and no one had to park very far. The ice castles are situated just behind the fair's grand stand. The four of us met at 6:30. We all bought our tickets online and had to check in at the trailer at the entrance where they give you the base rules.
The ice castles are cool. The process is kind of explained on little signs throughout the exhibit. We did a scavenger hunt via QR code at the entrance. It was fun, even for us adults. I loved all the lights throughout but my favorite part was the slides. I will admit I got on them several times as the lines weren't long. The fire show that happens twice per hour was pretty neat. I'm glad they had food trucks there. The cheese curds held us over till dinner. You can stay as long as you want even if you buy tickets for a certain time. We walked around for almost 2 hours. Be sure to wear warm socks especially, because there's loose, powdery snow on the ground. It helped with traction but if you don't have the proper footware you'll be...
