Beautiful place to see the aspens in the fall usually last week of September/beginning of October. There's a large parking lot and vault toilets. The actual Ellis trailhead is across the Crest Highway to the South (there's a gate and a trailhead marker directly across from the turn in to the parking lot). Ilyou can access the Rocky Point trail right by the vault toilets, and if you go north up the service road past the toilets there are several more trailheads and a helpful map for accessing all the trails that go up and down...

This a very convenient place to park for day hiking in the Sandia Mountains. There is a restroom with separate mens and womens areas and flush toilets. Very convenient if you are hiking up toward the crest trail, you can easily link to the 10K and Survey Trail as well. Oh, there is a parking fee if you do not have a parks pass. The national parks pass is accepted which is what we use. I am not sure how regulated this is, or if it is just the honor system. I think it is a...

Best Place IMO to see Fall Colors. Restrooms, large parking lot. Launch pad for several trail adventures other than Ellis. Remember park in the lot....then walk across hwy to begin a Ellis to N. Crest loop. View after view. Best Place To See Fall Colors! - Albuquerque, New Mexico 20...
