Karen Wine, owner of the gift shop, has refused to pay me for landscape prints that I had for sale on consignment. On June 22, 2017 Karen received a number of my landscape prints that she agreed to sell on consignment at her gift shop. In October, 2017 I first attempted to receive payment for the prints that had sold. I sent multiple emails that she did not respond to, and it took several phone calls before she answered her phone. When I was able to contact her, she agreed to send me the total for what was sold so that I could send her an invoice. She never followed through. In December I attempted to contact her many times, through emails, phone calls, and by leaving messages for her at the gift shop.
In January, 2018 after multiple attempts to contact here, I sent her a strongly worded email that she did respond to. She agreed to pay me for the prints that had sold, and to return any prints that did not sell. She agreed to meet me at a local coffee house at 11:00 am on Saturday. I arrived at 10:30 am, and at 11:05 I sent her an email letting her know that I was there. At 11:20 am I sent another email letting her know that I was there, and that I was growing impatient with her tardiness. She did not respond, and at 11:30 I sent her one last email instructing where to mail the check and the remaining prints. I told her that if I did not receive the check along with the remaining prints by Friday, that I would have to take further action. There was no check on Friday, nor the following Monday. I emailed here again letting her know that I was going to leave reviews on her Facebook page, her Trip advisor page, and her yelp page if she did not get in contact with me. To date, she has refused to answer my emails and phone calls. She owes me over $400.00. I have no idea why she has refused to pay the money that she owes, but I am greatly disappointed in our agreement. I'm just glad that I didn't drop off any more prints to her shop. I guess I'll have to file in small claims in order to get what is owed to me. I would recommend that folks NOT sell their work...
ย ย ย Read moreReally disappointed. We simply wanted to do the right thing and pay for parking (unlike a lot of other cars up there), but had no change. So my husband went into the cafe and apparently they will not give you change. Fair enough, we understood. My husband, without making a fuss, bought an overpriced candy bar to get some change. When we got home, we saw they also charged us a fee of $3.50 on top, just to get $3 of change. On top of making us buy a candy bar. And never said a word about the charge. My husband didnโt notice at the time because I was waiting in the car and not feeling very well, so he rushed. We were really shocked when we saw the receipt! Why makes us buy candy when you were going to charge us anyway? $3.50 charge for $3 in change? I have never seen anything like it. To top it all, the place was freezing when we were there (but the staff had a little heater, just nothing for paying guests), and the adjacent restrooms had faeces smeared all over them and obviously never get cleaned, just like the inside of this place. Disgusted by the lack of humanity and cleanliness. Make sure you have plenty of change before you go, and use the restrooms at the gas station at the bottom of the mountains. Nasty and dishonest...
ย ย ย Read moreThe gift shop was surprisingly open for business considering its elevation and lack of prime business driving high traffic roadside real-estate which was a breath of fresh air not having to deal with all the traffic and bustle of Albuquerque just miles below. Inside itโs very clean and quiet and actually a nice place to sit and enjoy the amazing views on one of the comfortable couches available. Although the gifts were overpriced as one would expect a $10 magnet or bumper sticker to remember your journey to the creat may...
