My favorite place to hike locally. Trails are well maintained. You can go for a short jaunt, but if you'd like to spend a few hours in the woods there are plenty of trails. It also connects to several trails in Crocker Conservation, so I never get bored going through the same areas every time I visit. There are LOTS of lovely birds to hear and see, especially starting in April/May. I'm never without my binoculars. *EDIT * What on earth is happening on Flat Rock Road?? It's utterly destroyed and unrecognizable. I'm heart sick. It's all torn down. Beautiful trees, mountain laurel, etc. I can't even imagine how traumatized the wildlife is. The Towees used to be abundant in that area. Makes me want to throw up. People...

Read moreFlat rock used to be my favorite place to hike with my dog but no more!! 2 years ago Audubon decided to log out all the hardwoods & most of the pines off the top & side of the large hill. It has resulted in skidder ruts everywhere leaving water running down all over the hill & Hiking trails unrecognizable. The top of the hill looks like a war zone is very hard to walk. It no longer resembles the wonderful well traveled forest trails full of laurels. It makes me SO SAD when I go up to see if it’s walkable. Such a shame to left the town with less town green...
