Kelly Park East — Attraction in Florida

A good place to launch your boat for the Banana River. This is located just south of A1A off the East side of North Banana River drive. This location has two parts to it: Kelly Park West and East. I have only visited Kelly Park East. This is a park (East) with several parts to it. It has a boat ramp on the south end of it with about 30 spots for Trucks with Trailers and a double boat ramp. There is a Covered open patio by the water and to adjacent to the boat ramp. You are launching into cove that is protected from the River waves. There is a dock around about ¾ of the U-shaped inlet. The north end of the park has a small beach on the river and about 50 car spaces and about 30 larger spaces. The space between these 2 areas has a large open air covered structure for events, a swing set and bathrooms. The playground is not shaded so I am sure it gets hot in the Florida sun. Kelly Park is laid back and is truly a park to enjoy Merritt Islands natural beauty. The park is clean. The boat launch ( weather permitting ) is always full of hitches trailers from boaters that casted off in the early morning. It is a big launch, so always keep an eye on young people. The lot for trucks with trailers can accommodate many , as it's quite large. Besides the boating, there are kite surfing opportunities for rent. There are covered picnic areas with grills. Public bathrooms are available. Just in case , bring soap & paper towels. If sunbathing is your preferred activity, your fellows simply put there foldable loungers on the grassy shore ,so, the your legs and feet are free to cool you down with gentle tidal...

Kelly Park is a park where we use the boat launch into the Banana River. There are multiple restaurants with docks relatively nearby via boat. The park itself is nice and clean and it has two decent boat launches with a pier in the middle.

Watch out for shallow water near the exit as if your boat has a draft more than 3ft you must stay in the marked channel. You could get stuck quite easily.

It is an ideal location to launch boats for viewing rocket launches at ksc. The coast guard is at Kelly on launch days providing guidance on boat position restrictions, this is very important as the fine for violating that on a launch...
