NO MOTION SICKNESS No big waves. My son was sick 6 times on our flight and I forgot to bring Dramamine on the boat. The only waves we encountered were from small boat wakes a hand full of times. No one felt sick. In fact we have more waves on our small lake at home.
BOAT TYPE It is a long sturdy pontoon boat. Ample seating and a table with cup holders. Easy to get into on the dock. And easy to get off of on the island with two stairs.
YES TO SEASHELLS and LOTS OF WILDLIFE I found Dolphin Family tours when searching for a boat ride where my family could collect sea shells. We were able to collect them on a tiny island. The water surrounding was very warm and clear. We found more shells here then the two spots we had in Cocoa Beach. We saw plenty of dolphins, eagles and their nest, many types of birds diving for fish, and some vultures. We didnāt see any manatee but itās because we didnāt make time for it as we prioritized the launch.
ROCKET LAUNCH VIEW SPACE X (NASA) The best thing about Captain Russ was that he told us weād were right on time to view a SpaceX launch from the boat feet away from NASA water space. To be honest we were hoping to see a launch but as a mom I was only following Nasas launches. Which are far fewer then Space X. He really made our vacation.
STORE There was a bright store a few driveways before the marina. They sell drinks and snacks.
RESTAURANT The marina has a restaurant to eat and drink at. There is a bathroom there for customers.
BATHROOM / CHANGING AREA There is a one stall public bathroom but you will need a code to get in. It has space to change and even shower. I recommend wearing your bathing suit and only to use it to change into dry clothing. It is in a hallway on the far left of the building.
PARKING There is a designated parking area for Dolphin Family Tours which are between some signs.
MEETING SPOT There is a labeled meeting spot with benches on the other side of the building...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIF I COULD GIVE THEM A 100 STARS I WOULD!! BUY THOSE TOURS PRONTO!! We did the swimming in the dolphin and manatee lagoon and I cannot rave about this company enough. Our guide was Russ and he actively searched the open sea for dolphins and did everything in his power to get us that experience. The island was the most perfect spot for swimming and searching for seashells and let me tell you,the shells were perfect and able to find several ārare and sought afterā shells. We were able to see dolphins hunting for food and even got them to come close to the boat you felt like you could just touch them if your arms were a bit longer. He was so personable and kind and a great conversationalist and made the entire trip a dream. He told us all about his fishing trips and got us sold on going on a fishing trip next time we visit hands down. He told us the history of the waters and islands and rivers surrounding us and answered any and all questions we had. He also even took us of the boat at the end of the tour and walked us over to where he knew manatees were to guarantee we could see those as well. Russ made a dream of seeing dolphins come true. This company is amazing and I want them to be in business for years and years to come! Seriously,itās worth every single penny! Donāt look anywhere else for a tour because this will give you exactly what your looking...

We were initially scheduled for 5/26 at 3:15 PM, but I received a text a couple hours beforehand saying the Captain said it was way too windy to go out. I was given the option of two different days and a few different times to re-schedule to. We chose today, 5/27, at 5:30. I appreciated the advanced notice and my replies regarding the re-scheduling were responded to almost immediately.
When we arrived today, Captain Russ notified us immediately upon boarding that because of the holiday weekend (Memorial Day), the island the tour typically goes to for swimming was super crowded and busy. We opted to just cruise the entire time instead.
Captain Russ shared all sorts of interesting facts and stories with us. Not only about the wildlife, but also about the cruise ships, SpaceX / NASA and many other topics.
It was really neat watching him looking for any signs of dolphins and manatees. We saw tons of dolphins and a few manatees. Even just catching quick glimpses of them was absolutely incredible!
I will most definitely book with Dolphin Family Tours again on future trips and will definitely recommend them to anyone I know who visits the area.
The whole experience was awesome! If you're considering any of their tours, just do it! You...
