I remember the golden years of Kweku Akan, Camille Curry, Zynette Paige, Costella Mack, and others who made this place a beacon of hope in our community. Weisser Park music programs that were focused on African American History were like no other in the entire city, and their impact was felt throughout Fort Wayne.
They fed thousands of children per year, OUR children, they prevented violence, supported local black owned businesses, supported families, and empowered OUR children. Bravo to these amazing men and women who did non-traditional work to help our community thrive and believe in themselves. They will never be able to be replaced. Weisser is still doing great work, no doubt, but the bureaucracy has made the days of a dream team like Kweku, Camille, and Zynette, hard to keep together. Only downfall is every once in a while there is things that happen regarding activity that shouldn't be done around children as well as in general. Safety isn't secure because of this but if society acted better than we wouldn't have any issues at all. I just pray that people keep the nonsense away from our children growing up...

While the school is still a very active in participating school the park and rec center is struggling a bit but hopefully the community will come together and support. the rec building a very nice place and should be in used.
