I am so GRATEFUL we have this city pool open. They have very attentive life guards and life vests available at no charge. One IMPORTANT NOTE Everyone must where an authentic retail swimsuit or you will not be allowed in. No basketball shorts, halter tops ect and they check everyone. It seems like I see at least one family turned away when I visit so I hope this review saves some people disappointment and time. Street clothes respond to the harsh chlorine and many threads are released which clogg the filtration systems. On a happier note a police officer is usually on hand and there are diving boards, and lanes for doing laps. My favorite spot to play gradually deepens upon entrance into water, similar to a sand beach, so no sudden drop into 3 foot water; great for tanning and playing alligator or shark with the little ones! There is no concession stand so pack your cooler with plastic or can drinks and snacks! There are umbrella tables available and nice lawn furniture. The pool always just SPARKELS with clean water! The prices are not higher than $5.00 a person and that is very affordable for all that is available. Oh yes, there are showers in the...
Read morewe called before we drove 30+ mins out to confirm if we can bring our canopy or an umbrella. We were advised we can bring something as long as it doesn’t dig into the ground. In this case, we brought our canopy because it doesn’t go into the ground. Before we parked & hauled all our heavy gear, one of us ran up to the gate to reconfirm, we were advised it was fine to bring in. Once we finally got in, set it all up in 91° idear & 10 UV, they told us to take our canopy down. We told them we asked, they said it’s a safety hazard because it would blow away. We told them we had stakes we could use, they still told us no. Meanwhile, there was a group with an umbrella loose on the ground. We also had sand bags we could utilize, still no. apparently, they used to allow canopies until they built their own, but there is limited seating under them. so now we are burning under the sun because there’s no other shade. So anyway, love that. Won’t be...
Read moreSince opening, Forest Park Pool has gotten so much better. It is cleaner, and the lifeguards are far better trained. They are very much on top of watching their water and whistling when necessary. I have witnessed a handful of saves this summer and think they are handled well. One thing I would like the pool staff to consider is how the lifeguards address the patrons in the park. When they are yelling and barking orders at children or adults, their rules need to be enforced respectfully. Instead of just yelling WALK! with an angry tone, a loud yet respectful WALK, PLEASE! would send such a different message that would be more easily received. Another thing to consider is that many patrons do not speak English, and so no matter how many times you yell WALK at them, they may not understand or know you are speaking to them. In short, please, thank you, and manners go a long way. Thankful for a pool I can visit over the...
