We visited this establishment because Talking Stick was closed- great circumstance for us. We joined the rewards club on the way in and got a free small plush toy. After that we headed straight for the brunch buffet. The selection of food items was excellent, staff was very friendly and helpful, table was comfortable- this was well worth the $20 price tag. We had to ask for the complimentary mimosas but 2 are included in the cost. We thought they were a bit heavy on the champagne ratio, could have used a little more orange juice in the mix. First item we went for was the prime rib, freshly cut medium rare by the server. Phenomenal taste, great cook, juicy melt in your mouth piece of meat. The creamy horse radish sauce was a good compliment side but didn't really need it, spouse put available extra horse radish in hers which was nice. This alone was worth the cost but it got better. Had the lobster ravioli in cream sauce which was average- lobster good, pasta a little thick and sauce a lot heavy. Flavor was there but could have been better. 2nd plate was peel n eat shrimp, mini crab claws and Chesapeake Bay oysters. Oysters-great. Plump and full of flavor. 4 of them down and all great. Shrimp were a bit small but flavorful, cocktail sauce was perfect- rich with a healthy amount of horse radish. Crab claws were tiny and not eorth the effort. Decent flavor just to much work for too little meat. Last plate was waffles, pancakes and french toast smothered in one of my favorite toppings- blueberry sauce. Plenty of whole blueberries throughout with a very nice flavor. Pancakes- ok but dull flavor, no vanilla taste noticeable, didn't finish them. Waffles- a bit thin but nicely cooked and good flavor. French toast- excellent, best of the bunch. Perfectly cooked with a hint if vanilla and cinnamon, these were the star for me. Dessert- mango cheesecake shooters were good but hard to get out of the cup; strawberry banana tart was good; chocolate mousse tart was good; pecan pie was excellent; blondies good; cookies were great; banana cream pie was sugar free and not good- would have preferred the sugar version because all of their other pies were good. Wife had a freshly made banana split which was awesome. Spouse played the slots while I explored the casino. It's not as large as a Vegas place but it's really well done, clean and well laid out. She won $165 so fun for all. This goes high up on our list of well worth a...
Read moreCasino Arizona hasn’t changed much. When I went to get my player’s card, they told me I hadn’t played since 2014—which, honestly, was a relief because the place is exactly the same as it’s always been. The slot machines are ridiculously tight, and winning feels impossible. The only real reason to visit is for bingo, which was fun and the main reason we went.
That said, the rest of the casino leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The way they drain money from people is unsettling. I get that it’s a business, and the reservation has the right to operate however they want, but it feels like things have gotten out of hand. It’s happening all over the valley, and it’s hard to ignore. What’s even worse is how blatantly they target older people—many of whom don’t have much money but cling to the hope of winning. It’s honestly disgusting watching them get their pockets drained like that.
I used to enjoy this place back when I could vape and play roulette for hours, getting free drinks—non-alcoholic, of course—brought to me. It felt like a little Vegas at home, which was nice. But now, it doesn’t have that same feel anymore, and that’s a shame.
One small thing that did make me smile was seeing a cigarette vending machine—not something you see often anymore. I’m not a smoker, but I believe in freedom of choice, and casinos have always been a place where people could smoke as much as they wanted. I think getting rid of smoking and vaping will cost them in the long run, at least for now. Maybe in 20, 50, or 100 years, when smoking is completely gone from American culture, it’ll make sense. But right now, I don’t think it’s the right move.
This place does not encourage winning, no matter how their commercials try to make it seem. If I’m gambling, I’d rather do it on my sportsbook app at this point because the slots here don’t feel remotely fair. Just saying.
Honestly, it’s lucky to even get two stars from me. I used to come here more often and enjoyed it at the time, but now, all the video poker I liked is gone, and nearly all the classic slots I played a decade ago have been replaced by massive touchscreen machines. Sure, they look nice, but I want classic reels. I want slots that don’t feel completely rigged. Every time I play one of those oversized machines, it feels fixed to the bone. At this point, I don’t even believe they’re using a true random number generator anymore. That’s...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for 10 years. Only ID’d if I need to cash out when I win, or order drinks. I was the designated driver tonight and lost my ID at the airport last week. I 100% understand IDing people who gamble or drink, but I’ve been coming here since I was 16 and driving my relatives home. At the door I was GREETED with absolute hostility because I was laughing with my friends- by an attendant named Danny, he asked for my ID which I lost the week before at the airport- but didn’t anticipate using cause I wasn’t planning on drinking or gambling but being a designated driver- which I have never showed my ID for. He then let my friend in, who is 10 years younger than me- without an ID- and I questioned it. He was extremely egregious with grabbing his supervisor- which was even MORE aggressive whose name was Affena? Or Feena? Similar to that. My friend then came back to defend me- as I was recording this- feena (sp?) was extremely aggressive with me as well- she said she have the right to ask to for anyone’s ID that looks under a certain age- which my friend who was 10 years younger than me shortly returned and was by my side and I calmly said she was never ID’d. the supervisor then scoffed at me, laughed at me, and was even MORE aggressive than the door man when I asked her to explain why they would ID me while walking in but not my friend who is 22, when I am 30 and didn’t even plan on drinking or gambling, she brought 4 other men out and they laughed at us while they told us “that’s just how it is”. I’ve been coming here since I was 18 and been the designated driver for those I’m with- this has never been the issue and never been addressed so aggressively. To the point where we were leaving and the “supervisor” Feena, was literally laughing at us gossiping. Me and my coworkers come here every night- none of us will return: we are all service industry and will spread the word about the staff mocking us. They all laughed as we...
