Medium parking lot (with toilet facility) and short walk to formal Poudre River kyack/"tube" launch. Will make a good start point for a float to the new Whitewater park opening downtown in October 2019. There are three concentric trails looping through McMurray, Magpie Meander and Salter natural areas as well as Soft Gold Park. This gives four distance options for this area. No water available except at "Shields River Access" lot or at Soft Gold Park. No trash or dog poop bag stations, so be prepared to pack it out. There are alcohol and smoking/flame restrictions. Read moreThis place is great for waking a dog, riding a horse, or just taking a stroll. There are so many different paths you can take (I had to use Google maps at first so I didn't get lost!). One of the paths connects to the Poudre River bike path (which is paved). But there's lots of options to stay on dirt trails as well. There are even some benches throughout in case you need a break. It's also very flat so that it's good for seniors. You can go as far as you'd like, and many of the paths loop back around so you don't have to backtrack much. Plus, there are at least two parks with playgrounds you can walk to, so the kids don't get bored. It's clean, and well maintained. As absolute gem in North...

Granted I was fishing off shore and the bass were small so next time I'll be coming with a dingy or raft to get into the middle of the lake/pond to catch some real fish. Beautiful scenery, deer roaming everywhere and very...
