Truly spectacular views.
We started on the La Luz trail but instead of taking it all the way down we turned off and reconnected with the crest trail. It took us 2 hours but we really had to rush it to avoid getting caught in the dark. It would be more comfortable to do this loop in 2.5 - 3 hours.
The trail has some steep drop offs so definitely not for young children or anyone afraid of heights. The difficulty of the loop ranged from very easy near the tramway station to quite challenging with some steep elevation gains.

Read moreIt's not an easy trail because it's above 10000 feet for the duration of the hike. The scenery is amazing. The hikes starts out level, then drops down 450 vertical feet. At the end, one basically scrambles up to the top with a 100 foot vertical climb. There's a trail but it's steep at the end. The main difficulty is hiking down on thousands of surface tree roots.
