Pikes Peak is a very popular and saturated tourist destination, you would think having a business at the foot of the mountains that gets a ton of traffic, you'd be a little more gracious with all the business you receive.
We visited this place about 3 years ago and the owner was pretty pleasant at the time. I went back home, posted about the Pickle Shack on social media, and couldn't wait to check it out again. Walked in and the 2 women were chit-chatting, didn't speak a word to us, no biggie. I just wanted to get pickles at Pikes Peak! We grab a couple of jars and go to check out. Owner says 3 words. "Cash or card?" My guy asked if there was a difference and she just rushed him with the Square reader. We paid and I looked back at her. She made this horrid face as if we just "inconvenienced" her. RBF actually...I will not be returning, ever. You have to have a bit of hospitality while running a business. You would think you'd want returning customers that travel hours or even days to get to Colorado. I can pickles like this anywhere near where I live. I just wanted the experience You need to humble yourselves. God can take your blessings...
Read moreWe were really excited to visit the Pickle Shack, but unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing due to the rude behavior of the woman behind the counter. When we asked if they offered samples, she curtly replied that she had stopped doing samples and would never offer them again. While it was a bit disappointing not to try the flavors beforehand, it wasn’t a big deal—but her attitude was unnecessary.
We decided to browse anyway, hoping to find something to support a local business. When we asked about the flavor profile of the pickled veggies (whether they leaned more sweet or salty), she dismissively responded, “Well, they’re all pickled.” We’re fully aware they’re pickled—we were just asking for more detail.
Throughout our visit, she made additional rude comments that left us feeling unwelcome. Her unhelpful demeanor, combined with the fact that the pickled veggies we purchased tasted unpleasant and stale, made for an overall bad experience. Sadly, we cannot recommend...
Read moreCame in with a group of 5 people, told the woman working that we were excited to purchase the products. I asked her a few questions & was treated with mild disinterest. We thought, fine, she sits in a shed all day, maybe she’s just bland. I purchased pickled okra and the queso extreme. Then, my husband excitedly noticed the honey sticks. When he innocently asked if she could break a $100 bill, instead of politely saying no, she laughed at him and said she might if he intended to purchase “like 50 honey sticks” but otherwise no, she wouldn’t break the $100 bill. Our friend with smaller bills of cash could’ve purchased the honey for us, but we chose not to give any more of our money to such a rude person. Gave an extra star because the items we did buy were good. Did not return for more items due to the...
