A little over a month ago I spilled water in my 5 year old MacBook Pro. I immediately turned it off and propped it upside down for close to a week. When attempting to turn it on all I could see or hear was the fan. I brought it into the Apple store and they did a quick diagnostic test and said that the only things salvageable were the screen and the hard drive. They said that the only way to move forward was to replace all components for $1450 or to buy a brand new machine.

On the way back from the Apple store I stopped into Golden Circle to get Roman’s opinion. He opened my computer and showed me that there was corrosion almost everywhere including the hard drive and confirmed that all/most of the components were likely toast. My only hope at this point was to recover the data on my hard drive. He gave my computer to a friend of his that owns a computer repair business and within a week his friend had fixed my old hard drive, allowing me to recover all of my data. Roman put my old hard drive into one of his MacBooks and amazingly it booted up and I had full access to all of my data. He loaned me that computer to allow me to transfer the data to an external drive.

During the process I had purchased a 2015 MacBook pro from Roman which has been an absolute dream. Even though the machine is several years old it looks and performs as if it were brand new! Roman sold it to me for the completely reasonable price of $950, much cheaper than trying to repair my old machine or buying a new one from Apple. A quick internet search for a machine with similar specs in similar condition would have easily been over $1000.

Today was the first time I have ever sold personal belongings in this way . I am in the process of cleaning out a family property . My hope is to upgrade and rent it out ..
