I was hungry and in a hurry so I ordered takeout: a shrimp taco and a spinach and cheese pupusa. Wow! I've had many a taco and a few pupusas but not like this. As I always say in reviews, I'm a Parisian native and I'm pretty picky about my food from all regions. I was so pleasantly surprised about the quality of the ingredients and the freshness. It was really like home cooked food made by someone who cares. The pupusa was not deep fried, it was not greasy, it was just crispy enough on the outside and moist on the inside, and the cheese had flavor. The 2 small tortillas in the shrimp taco were handmade (!yes!) and flavorful, the shrimp was small but shelled, grilled, tasty and seasoned with cilantro, with the lime on the side and a slaw that was seasoned but not spicy (!yes again!) [Side note: I always have a problem with spiciness levels. My palate cannot handle heat and I usually ask for not spicy or mild and still end up with my mouth on fire. It's annoying that I have to settle for food that is bland because there is too much heat in the dishes with spices.] Anyway, I think the people who had a negative experience at Los Pinos probably didn't speak Spanish or their request didn't get across well. Because this is really good food, they care, and I'm grateful that I discovered them. I'm actually going back the same day to pick up...
Read moreMy visit to Restaurante Los Pinos provided a mixed experience. The highlight was the strawberry margarita, which proved to be the best I’ve ever had, skillfully showcasing distinct flavors of strawberry, lime, and tequila. The bartender’s service was remarkable, characterized by exceptional attention to detail, deserving an unquestionable 5-star rating. However, the temperature of the dishes I tried turned out to be a negative aspect of the visit. Despite enjoying the delicious taste of the food, I encountered the inconvenience that the dishes were cold. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that both the dishes and the beverages were relatively high-priced compared to similar establishments in the area. I suggest that Restaurante Los Pinos pay closer attention to the temperature of the dishes served and carefully review their pricing policy to provide a more affordable and satisfying gastronomic experience for their customers. In summary, the establishment shows potential with its selection of delicious drinks and dishes; however, some improvements are necessary to ensure a truly memorable experience. With careful adjustments, I am confident that Restaurante Los Pinos can offer even more enjoyable moments for...
Read moreAuthentic El Salvadoran and Mexican food made from scratch. Nothing fancy but delicious. I suspect this is the kind of food that they eat back home. I ordered two pupusas, beef tongue tacos, and beef soup. It was way too much food for one sitting. It was enough for two full meals. The pupusas had just the right texture and it came with delicious slaw and salsa that complimented the pupusas well. I ordered the tongue tacos because I like weird stuff and I was not disappointed. Tongue was chopped into small pieces and crunchy in texture, which contrasted well with the soft taco. The soup came with a little bit of rice, chopped raw onion, cilantro, and couple of wedges of lime. The soup itself had carrot, mystery fruit which ate kind of like turnip, cabbage, herbs, and couple of hunks of meat with bones attached to it. With the accompaniments in it, it reminded me a little bit of Pho, but richer. I love that they are offering simple but delicious food at such reasonable price. There is no pretense here. I don’t think they are trying to impress anyone. I think they are just trying to make good food for the masses (probably aiming towards the Latino community). I will be coming back...
