While the RV campground only has 7 sites that sit at the back of a large parking lot that is a staging area for many of the outdoor activities in the area. While daytime is busy, by early evening it clears out and all is quiet and peaceful until mid-morning. The backdrop of the White Mountains just can't be beat. BUT, more NH State Park Rangers need to be patrolling this area because some people are using the reserved campsite picnic tables as their own...as squatters. We were there a week ago with our motorhome and after being out for the day in Jeep, came back to find a large family using the picnic table behind our coach, and with many small children running around (near the coach with slides out). They were "invited" to leave promptly....and did. In speaking with Echo Lake staff and other campers who frequent this area this apparently is becoming an increasingly frequent problem and does need to be addressed. We felt safe but intruded upon. We have been camping in Franconia State Park for more than 25 years and appreciate this is a popular spot due to the beauty and attractions but also hate to see this become a problem area. With mobility challenges, I was looking for a spot with views from the trailer and this spot has absolutely perfect mountain scenery. We stayed in site 6. This small RV park has a near perfect location. Although not easily accessible to get to, there is a nice paved path along the lake and with a little assistance, I was able to use my electric scooter for more great views of the lake. This location offers easy access to area attractions such as The Basin, Boise Rock, Old Man of the Mountain and the White Mountain Washington Hotel. Fall foliage season was at peak during our visit with vibrant colors. This small RV area is adjacent to a parking lot, so there are people back and forth and we felt very safe.
