Beautiful clear water with gorgeous backdrop surrounding it. Great for picnics and water sport activities. There is a rental booth that rent kayak, paddle boats, and canoes. For paddle boat is $25/hour and it can fit 4 people. There is an RV park also right by the entrance. Only few spots are available and I believe it is very hard to get a spot. The lady at the ticket booth entrance said that most people booked it a year in advance. Nearby the lake there are a few hiking trails, with Artist Buff being the easy one. The only thing is that there are 2 Echo lake beaches, one is in the Echo Lake State Park, the other one is in Franconia State Park. We paid the parking for the Echo Lake State park, even though we wanted to go to the Franconia one. But still it was breathtaking. The view of the ledge and the greenery is just beautiful.
