This school is based on making money only. School is compacted, classes aren't easy to get and material is extremely limited. Many of the instructors are people who couldn't get a job in the industry they wanted because of lack of commitment and decided to teach instead of being persistent and getting to the industry they wanted and get years of experience and "than" coming to teach in College. Furthermore the Art Department lies to students and rises deceptive factors teaching nonsense and wasting students times learning impractical craft that won't be beneficial in today's industry. I sent a Dean to the president of the school and they gave me the run around and never spokr to me, Jade the department chair and Holland are running the art department to the ground, not to mention the unprofessional distribution of impractical knowledge. If You're pursuing art, you can get a better artistic education at New Masters Academy and Ngomonworshops, and Fullerton Community College where they have instructors that actually are in the industry for more than 10 years and can actually teach and have excellent communication skills. Calstate Fullerton is more about money and making students a number and not so much building them up and having a CTE programs. My advice for anyone planning in coming here is to go to Fullerton College and get New Masters Academy and "PUT IN THE WORK" many student saying they want to be artists but are lazy instead of hardworkers. Furthermore the parking at Calstate is over 400$ dollars per semester which is an extreme abuse of power and authority. Save your money and start at a community College, you'll get more and a better foundation at a community college. Beautiful campus though, if only the education was as good as its beauty and the instructors knew what they were talking about. Joanna Roche, is the only good instructors I have met that know their craft and actually care about students. Take the following instructors..
Tenjin Dorjee- intercultural communication
Joanna Roche- Topics in art History
Mark Zoeller- Illustration
Erik Huesbch- stain glass
Melissa Selvius- metalsmithing and jewelry
Mike Mcgee- Writing for visual arts
Garret Kaida
Jesse Pak
"Instructors not to take"
Camila Maroja-Art History (Extremely Condescending)
Francis Ryan- Figure Drawing ( Arrogant)
Maurice Bastian- 3d modeling ( lazy and uses other instructors videos to teach instead of him teaching)
Andy Fedak ( Very nice guy, but he teaches 3d when he's not in the industry)
Jade Hewet- Department Chair- The lady who has her favorites and makes the fine arts department bigger and is getting rid of ENTERTAINMENT ARTS. Hires her favorites to teach subjects that are worthless and impractical.
Holland- Dean of Art Department- does not take students seriously and is friends with Jade.
** The schools purpose is to educate and inspire students and get then job ready for the realworld no to have angry students write reviews like mine.
As I take more professors I'll keep upgrading this reviews so that the viewer can take the good...
Read moreExperience as a relative visiting for ceremony events.
Bad experience when asked to attend CASAS 2025 stole ceremony. They originally stated that around 20 people can be invited per graduate. Then it changed to around 8, then it changed to around 5. That is a lot of unneeded stress on everybody invited as then the invitations have to be rescinded and with multiple changes; some have to wait on standby as the directions are not final. Also the poor directions given to where the ceremony was to take place did not help. We had to help fellow lost graduates find the location due to poor instructions. Furthermore, the "CASAS executive board" was very disorganized when handing out the saches and soles. Some names were called for the wrong item, some graduates names were not called for a few items, and a few other minor issues were embarrassing to say the least. For something that should be structured as these ceremonies happen every year multiple times for each different item/nationality stuff. And the cherry on top, was that for parking, you had to download an app, create an account, then pay around 12 dollars just to attend and support the graduate. Unbelievable. And for less tech savy individuals, it was difficult.
The second visit was the the actual commencement. The staff refused to allow a bag that adhered to the dimensions ON THE COMMENCEMENT WEBSITE, and refused to even roughly measure the bag. They just looked at it from afar and kept denying entry. That means that after reading and following all of the very specific restrictions mind you, and walking several minutes. Someone has to walk back to the parking lot, and then walk back to attend the event. An extra 15 stressful minutes as this is an emotional event and is supposed to be a happy day. Not dealing with powerhungry event staff that don't even follow their own rules.
TLDR: CASAS "executive board" poorly planned the stole and sashes ceremony and was disorganized during the event. Staff at the commencement ceremony denied entry without verifying the rules on the schools...
