I had had vaguely heard of Fulton, MO, I believe I had read its name whilst zooming in on Google Maps an hour before I saw a sign for the National Churchill Museum. Always a fan of any museum, and knowing comparatively little about Churchill overall, I made an impulsive decision to take the exit & see what it had to offer.
And I could not have been more impressed, a small little college in Fulton has produced a world class museum out of a single event, Churchill traveling all the way to Fulton to give a speech at their campus decades ago. That speech gave birth to a top notch exhibit at Westminster college that without question rivals the George W Bush presidential library on the campus at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Two hours (and I could have stayed longer) after making that impulsive exit off HWY 54, I walked out of the National Churchill museum and into the bright sunlight of day with a profound understanding of the man, his amazing life of accomplishment & travel after surprisingly unpromising school career. I left the museum in awe of the man & of this small town & college that took a chance on asking one of the greatest leaders in the history of the world to travel across the ocean to come give a speech in the middle of nowhere.
Also, I inquired but didn’t get an answer: Small suggestion: if the college still has the program which invited a distinguished person to speak at their campus each year may I suggest they take another bold chance & invite the current leader of Ukraine (Volodymyr Zelenskyy) to come give a speech in Fulton just as Churchill once did.
He’s one of the rarest breed of politicians, a man who can inspire people to put their lives on the line to defend the very same values that Churchill so eloquently expressed.
All in all I could not have made a better decision than to stop out of the blue to check check I out the museum. Well done guys....

The museum does an excellent job telling the story of Winston Churchill’s life and legacy, including his pivotal role in world events. One of the most unique aspects is the historic church that houses the museum—a beautiful structure that was carefully relocated from London to Missouri. The interior is stunning.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to answer questions or provide additional context. Outside, you’ll find impressive statues of Churchill and even a segment of the Berlin Wall, reinforcing the museum’s deep historical significance. Be sure to also visit the nearby gymnasium where Churchill gave his iconic "Iron Curtain" speech.
