I'm a bit perplexed as to why this place is rated as high as it is. It misled us. I gave it two stars only because our server was nice and I liked the building and design of the restaurant. We went for dinner on our anniversary. It was a special night fo us and we didn't particularly want to sit by the bar. We told this to the person who seated us. We preferred a booth on the other side of the restaurant and were willing to wait. He said none were available and next tried to seat us at another table upstairs in a loft-like area. The table was at the back in a corner and it was very warm up there. It felt like a table in the kitchen. We again refused and said we would wait for a booth to open up. He was annoyed and took us back downstairs and said something to the hostess. We sat down to wait but in less than a minute he called our name and led us to a booth on the other side. There were about five booths open where he said none were less than minutes ago. Hmmmm. We ordered steak and a southwest salad. My salad was full of water. It was mostly lettuce with a tablespoon of black beans and corn. Grilled chicken was on top. The salad dressing was very bland. My husband's steak was full of gristle. His mashed potatoes were brown. He said the best part of his meal was the bread. He never asks for steak sauce but told me later he thought of asking for it there as it might have added some flavor.
One final word of advice. If you are hungry for a southwest salad or looking for a very nice place to eat dinner, try The Oaks in Mexico. I wish we had gone there instead for our Anniversary. A movie we wanted to see was playing in Fulton but not in Mexico. You will not be disappointed by the food or the service...
Read moreSo appreciative of Beks and this rare find in a small charming place I grew up called Fulton. Since moving back home from living in Houston,TX for 30+ years where there was an abundance of esteemed chefs and restaurants around every corner, I canât believe Fulton has this gem in Beks. I had âsurf and turfâ tonight. Donât usually eat out for dinner during the week, but after a long day and seeing this as a special for only $24...I just had to try it. The beef tenderloin was some of the most tender and flavorful Iâve ever had and cooked to perfection. The lobster crab cake was Delish and zucchini and mash delightful. Super impressed with owners Garry and Rebekah Vaught and their head Chef Danny. They always have such creative menus. Also kudos to the seasoned waitress, Mandy Bowlds who serves with a smile and ever so efficient. Along with the other staff I usually see during the lunch shift, so a shout out to Heather, Kayla, Garrett, Logan, Morgan, Jessica, and upfront Kelsey, Taylor, Paul, Betsy, Joni, Tessa, use to be Kaley and Allan and Naomi and and all the others and sorry if I missed some names by accident. Always consistent outstanding service and love the vibe of this place. Fun soft jazz music playing in the background and unique artwork on the walls peppered in with rare antique pieces around the two rooms with a few pieces showing Garryâs love of mushrooms/ morels decor. Definitely my favorite, âtreat myselfâ meal here and what a treasure for Fulton! Thanks crew!!! And did I mention all that the owners do for...
Read moreThe vibe and look of the place is great. They have tons of seating and the whole place is interesting yet chill. Our server was amazing! She was funny, knew the menu, and took care of everything!
The food was overall excellent.
We started with the parmeasan Artichoke dip- fantastic. It was rich and Creamy and warm. For appetizers, we got the pickle fries as well. Delicious! The cornmeal crust was so crunchy and good. 10/10 The steak sandwich with caramelized onions was a 7/10- steak was tender. The chicken Alfredo was absolutely delicious! Very garlic forward, and I loved it. 9/10 We also ordered a special, which was a torta with fresh jalapeño, avocado, and a Chipotle aioli- so fresh, so tasty! 9/10 The other special we ordered was a bacon turkey sandwich on a hoagie - it was a great sandwich. 8/10
I got the papaya kale salad (on the special menu) - it had good flavor but pretty large chunks of bell pepper, red onion, and papaya. It would've been more palatable if it had all been diced into small pieces. 6/10
As it was my birthday, they did surprise me with some of their chocolate mousse and OH MY GOODNESS. if you get dessert and love chocolate- do yourself a favor and get this. Rich, but not too sweet. 10/10
We will definitely come back! I'd...
