This is a good outing on Sundays. This is large area which has the Fox River flowing through and there are multiple shelters, picnic areas, parking lots and rest rooms. The rest rooms are dry ones, so can be a bit unusual to use them. The vast expanse of the grounds and the villas were owned by George Fabyan and a portion of these were acquired by the park district. They have a villa tour which is quite informative and takes you through the life of the Fabyans. The contribution of George Fabyan to cryptography and his collection of strange Japanese items and the false mummy are an interesting side bar to the lovely park and picnic area. There is a windmill too that you can visit and explore inside, the kids were excited to imagine the process of milling using wind energy. There are volunteers who act as staff for those tours of the windmill, villas and the Japanese gardens. We live about an hour away. It is a lovely place and there's plenty to see. It's definitely worth it for Pictures and memories. We brought our friend group here everyone loves it and we go all the time now, we stop at the portillos in bativia.(I think that's where it is) We made a few trips and then one of our close friends passed away. 20 years young. It's definitely a lot of memories but I wouldn't change anything. We still have yet to do the tour but we really want to. It's a beautiful windmill and learning about the land and how the windmill came to be is an epic experience. Even in the rain it's worth every second. I think if I could get a job doing the tours or helping with the preserve I would. Tickets are only for the tour. If your just regularly visiting then you don't need them. Have...
