One of Arthur Lakes original quarries from the the 1870s (Quarry 5), it was "re-discovered" so-to-speak when the CCC built the Alameda Parkway in the 1940s and is now part of the Dinosaur Ridge attraction. The fossils are part of the famed Morrison Formation of the Late Jurassic Period (157 to 145 MYA). Some of the boulders from the site were used by the CCC as natural guardrails. When they were replaced with actual guard rails in the early 2000s the boulders were shipped to the Morrison Natural History Museum for further examination.
