We had a wonderful time at Dinosaur Valley State Park! The campsites are beautiful, naturally well-shaded with plenty of cedar trees and some oaks, giving it such a peaceful, woodsy feel. The sites are a bit close together, and our particular spot had an awkward setup with the picnic table on the opposite side of our RV — which meant we were facing the back of our RV when sitting outside — but honestly, that was just a small quirk in an otherwise great stay.
The facilities were excellent — very clean restrooms and showers, with great privacy and well-kept spaces. We never felt like they were dirty or overly hot, and it was such a nice surprise to see there’s even a heater for wintertime use.
We really enjoyed exploring the trails, many of which we were able to bike, and that was such a fun way to take in the scenery since we love biking all over parks like this. The playground near the camping area was a great spot for our kids to burn off some energy, and they especially loved the storybook trail with fun facts and history signs along the way — such a creative touch!
The park store was another highlight — well-stocked with essentials, snacks, and plenty of great souvenirs. Everyone we met, from park staff to fellow campers, was kind and helpful.
Overall, this is a beautiful park with lots to see and do. Despite a few small quirks with the campsite layout, we had a fantastic experience and would...
Read moreI can honestly say this is the most beautiful state park I have been to. The parking lot was clean. The trails were well maintained and marked. The water is clear, great for fishing and splashing. We spent the morning time here which was perfect because it is in a canyon so the heat didn't hit us as hard as it might have had we been up top. There were plenty of fish and few people. The dinosaur tracks are awesome. Highly recommend stopping at the Dinostore on the way out as there is a lot of great merch (credit cards accepted). Lots of great photo opportunities. I was traveling with two guys so I didn't get to take advantage of all of them...great for kids and adults. Expect a hike...a true hike. It was breathtakingly beautiful and worth every step and every drop of sweat. Plan ahead and visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife website before you go. I highly recommend the yearly pass. Get your tickets (print them because internet service at the park is...

The highlight, of course, is seeing the actual dinosaur tracks preserved in the riverbed—such an incredible experience to walk where dinosaurs once roamed!
The trails are beautiful, with stunning views of the river, wooded paths, and scenic overlooks. It’s a great spot for hiking, picnicking, and even just relaxing by the water. The kids (and adults!) loved the giant dinosaur statues at the entrance—perfect for photos and sparking imaginations.
