If you're planning a visit, make sure to arrive early! While parking is sufficient, it can get limited as everyone arrives for the day. The location boasts a spacious picnic area equipped with grills and tethers for your furry friends. You'll find plumbing for restrooms in the picnic area, along with portable toilets at the entrances to most trails. The water is stunningly clear, allowing you to spot everything from dinosaur footprints to seashells. The trails are clean and well-maintained, with connections that let you choose between long treks or shorter loops. Most trails are shaded, providing a welcome break from the sun. That said, it does get quite hot, so be sure to bring extra water and layers for sun protection. There’s also a charming little store that offers all the essentials. Overall, this place is fantastic for everyone, from seasoned hikers to toddlers just looking to splash around in the water.

We tent/vehicle camped here. The facilities were pretty clean and quiet. The other campers were polite and the hosts were super friendly and helpful. My advice is for Tesla users. You'll need a special 120v 30amp adapter to plug in your Tesla mobile charger to the RV power here. We used our Starlink for Internet as Internet/mobile service was non existent except at the entry. Also if you're looking at Glen Rose weather add at least 5 degrees because the micro climate in the valley is hotter and more humid. That caught us off guard.

Wonderful park to visit, we will certainly be going back. Plenty of shade for the RV, cool river water to swim/wade in also, the only reason for not giving 5STARS is (1)the river access was limited and makeshift trails were “sketchy”, it’s not the park’s fault though, natural water erosion makes it difficult. (2)trail was up against my site and hikers “side quest” would bring them straight through our site, unwelcome visits. Staff was amazing and it’s a perfect place to escape the heat of a Texas summer.
