I am super super proud of Jett for doing this camp. It is definitely a challenging camp and they roughed it is probably a little bit of an understatement. He absolutely loved it and wants to do it again next year. Although, leave it to my kid to be their 1st major incident in the 6 years of them having this camp. Jett was running through the woods during one of their laser tag missions and almost missed his turn when he slipped and fell on some barbed wire (that was buried under the brush) and ended up in the ER where he received 9 stitches. Let me say these instructors are infantry officers and knew exactly what to do to take care of him. They stopped the bleeding and steristripped it till they got to the ER. TOP NOTCH guys. Mom wasn't around so he had to be grown and they said he took it like a champ. The pictures they sent me it looks like he was in good spirits during it all. This happened on the last day. He did go back out there and finished it till the end. Saying he was exhausted when we got in the truck is definitely true I have a video of him sleeping 😴 🤣 he was asleep before we left the park. He has so many stories. He was telling us about the laser tag guns and how they are not your everyday normal laser tag toys. He can't wait to go again next year. They all marched up like grown men the instructors gave them a challenge coin for their achievement of finishing camp. I'm so proud. I highly very highly recommend this camp. These instructors are amazing and wonderful guys really trying hard to make a difference in these boys lives. They teach them responsibility and leadership skills. They are teaching the survival skills. It is military based and ran by veterans. So if you want your son to get out of the video games and experience something then this is for them. Check out their website. This is definitely not the same kid we dropped off. Hes changed in only good ways. Thank you so much Squad STX...
Read moreMy son attended this camp for the second year in a row, and he absolutely loves it. This isn't a boot camp style experience; instead, it teaches valuable skills that kids today often lack exposure to. The camp focuses on tactical skills, camping skills, and leadership development, making it an enriching experience for any young attendee.
The squad leaders, who are Military veterans, bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with the boys. Each squad consists of five campers and a squad leader, which ensures that every camper gets the most out of their time at the camp. The leadership demonstrated by these squad leaders is truly exceptional and leaves a lasting impression on the young men.
My son always returns with incredible stories about his experiences and the leadership lessons he learned. He has forged lasting friendships with kids from all over the state, friendships that continue long after the camp ends. It's not all serious, though. The boys go on exciting hiking adventures, enjoy swimming, and participate in the infamous laser tag games that everyone loves.
The transformation in my son is remarkable. The child I pick up post-camp is never the same one I dropped off. Each year, he returns with more confidence, grit, and pride in his accomplishments over the five days. If you're on the fence about this camp, take the leap of faith. I promise you...
Read moreMy fifteen year old son completed his second camp with Dustin and his team of Aggies (Whoop!) a few weeks ago. His first experience was last summer and he is hooked. Both years have taken him one step closer to independence and maturity using masculine fun laced with grit. It is tough, hot, grueling but also engaging, unique, and cultivating as these boys come back more mature and tougher because of this experience. It is refreshing to have this opportunity available to help prepare to launch my son into the real world through these expeditions. My son was exposed to survival skills, camping, leadership, team work, various tactics, orienteering, land navigation, knot tying, knife handling, shelter building, night navigation, geocaching, fire building, capture the flag, laser tag, first aid, basic self defense, swimming, planning and completing hikes, survival skills, etc. over the course of five days and four nights. Surely my son will think back on his encounter with Squad Stx Boys Camp and be grateful for the chance at such a fantastic venture. Thank you for the...
