My previous review is relevant in its own context, because of what happened then, but I feel it's appropriate to update it with this post since the matter was settled amicably and in a very professional manner.
The person who would have been responsible for the task, at least partly, named Teresa, was not there when the job was supposed to have been completed; she was on vacation. I took it for granted everything was OK when I had my computer (Windows 10) picked up for me and did not feel there was a need to ask any questions – whether or not anything was missing.
When she came back, everything flowed smoothly; so was my communication with the technician, Paolo, whom I assume is the senior technician and probably is the one fixed the computer or oversaw completion of the task. I dealt with him in the past, in 2021, and he did an excellent job fixing my computer, HP Windows 7. It still runs like new four years later. He was, as now, very professional, and did not overcharge me.
He told me back then I would have to pay $95.00 for diagnosis and the money would also be applied toward payment of the whole bill if it could cover the entire cost. It took more than a week, probably two, before I got my computer back after he told me he had to order for some parts for it. After he was done, he called me and told me the computer was ready. I asked him how much was it going to cost me? He said $95.00, total cost. I didn't have to pay more than what I had already paid, which was $95.00 when I first took the computer to them. The $95.00 I initially paid covered everything.
So, they do include $95.00 (for diagnosis) in the total cost and sometimes that's all you have to pay after your computer is fixed, depending on what's wrong with it. If it costs more than that, expect to pay more.
My Windows 10 included re-uploading the operating system, transferring data, cleaning up the computer and fixing other parts. Windows 7 had to do with the blue screen of death and probably other problems but without re-uploading the operating system. As I said, it runs like new four years later. I'm still on Windows 7 as well, using Avast, free version, to protect it; not full protection but good enough for me.
I still do business with them....
Read moreCame in with laptop and replacement keyboard. Was told they could replace the keyboard for just the service cost ($95) and charged me prior to any service being done. When they opened the laptop they said they couldn't replace the keyboard because of its mounting and said it would cost me an additional ~$170 for them to order the entire assembly and complete the replacement. I am a college student and don't have that money laying around, so I thanked them but declined the new assembly.
When I came to pick it up I was under the assumption that the $95 dollars previously paid was for the keyboard replacement and nicely asked if I could receive some form of refund or compensation for the lack of services. They got extremely verbally aggressive with me for even suggesting such a thing and when I brought up that no services were actually performed he quoted the laptop disassembly and reassembly as the $95 dollar cost, rather than the keyboard replacement which I payed for.
I wasn't aware you could get paid to take apart a computer and then put it back together without performing a single repair. If that was the case I could be making millions. If you don't know that you can provide a service you shouldn't be charging people for it. I'm not paying for your science experiment, to open up and learn about a laptop. I paid for a keyboard to be replaced. If you didn't know how to replace the keyboard, you shouldn't have said you could and charged me in the...
Read moreThis place is horrible. Straight up the worst computer repair store I have ever been to. After giving them my laptop and identifying the problem for them they said to me that this was their profession they know what to do and that I was wrong, after two weeks of waiting for my laptop they told me that they replaced the display (ADDING YET ANOTHER FEE) and gave it back, within minutes of using it again I encountered the same problem and returned the next day. Now the genius in charge there talks to me as if I am a child this entire time, where if not discouraged by my peers I would have likely fixed this problem myself for a fraction of the cost, and says that the initial problem WAS EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD THEM WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, this man is a condescending prick who thinks he knows better than anybody. Refusing to give me a refund for not fixing anything I tried to leave three times but was stopped with potential things they could do, all of them adding another $100 at least most likely more to the charge. Needless to say I left in a huff and am incredibly pissed off by this entire exchange....
