Aa you might know, I'm from El Paso, TX, the #1 Mexican food capital of the United States. I know menudo is prepared different in different states. That's fine, but of course, I can't be impartial because the way it's prepared here is not the way we're used to. We have a steaming hot red chile broth with bite size menudo meat with hominy served with buttered pan blanco (or bolillos) as some people call them. Some like limes, orégano and onions. I tried the menudo here at the swap meet in Portland, and it hurts me to say that they do not know how to enjoy this dish. I ordered a bowl here, it was lukewarm at best in watery red chile sauce. The worst part, NO HOMINY! The menudo pieces were not cut to bite size, they were large. No bread. Just lukwarm tortillas. This is the second time I tried menudo in Portland. Oregon. Same result. There are a lot of Hispanics here, didn't they bring the recipe with them? I've eaten at a few Mexican restaurants and they're ok, but the Menudo dish needs a vast improvement. Worst menu’ at a bar / restaurant / shopping center. Don’t ever order : shrimp salad , it tasted like cat food or raw fish . Fish was so strong I didn’t touch anything. Some tacos are okay beef. About it. The bar tender rip me off my mixed drink was basically juice no alcohol whatsoever it’s what we pay for we should get. Gets really hot inside no air conditioning. Restroom are far in back so unsafe and dirty, lucky if they clean it twice in a day. Sometimes no hand soap 🧼. To many fights at bar / dance floor. To packed to many people sometimes. Overall I wouldn’t recommend a place for a late night bite to eat with a drink or dance. Parking is to small you have to walk far to entrance door.
