We were looking to waste a little time after lunch and before our room was ready, so we decided to stop by the Nature Center. It was a great experience! They make it sound lame, but our kids (14 and 7) really enjoyed it. The employee was extremely knowledgeable in all of the species that we present (alive and stuffed). If you are going to be adventurous in the area, consider at least stopping by to see the local snakes so you can recognize them if you see them. Read moreReally neat little place to see the smaller native reptiles and fish up close in tanks and cages. Lots of taxidermied large mammals, seashells, turtle shells, animal skins, idenfication charts, etc. It's a small building but it's well maintained and there's a lot to check out and learn. There was a rescued real live barred owl on a perch on the front desk. It was not in a cage and you could get just as close as you like! (the staff warned that being bitten by an owl does not feel good) Altogether just a great place to learn some more about...
Read moreWe had a nice time exploring the nature center today. It's $3 for a car day pass (free for Veterans). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. You're able to see live alligators, turtles, fish, snakes, owls, hawks, and more! Everything is labeled and there is lots of educational resources. Most things are not to touch, but there is a sensory corner with stuffed animals and books. We walked outside to see the small amphitheater and over to the gift shop to purchase some animal stuffies to take home....
