Went on this trip with the hopes of doing some great snorkeling and shelling, but I feel that we did not get much time to do either. We went to one area by Egmont key, but they said we weren't going to snorkel there because it wasn't clear enough. The second place we went to was still by the key, but there was not much to find there. Only found one conch, an urchin, and a few other things. All else that was there was sand and sea weed. Additionally, we only got to snorkel for about 45 minutes. Overall, I was not impressed with the snorkel experience. After the snorkeling, we went over to the lighthouse. They only gave us an hour to explore the island, but it's so big, you can't really see much in that time frame. By the time I walked to the other side of the island to look for shells, I only had about 15 minutes before I had to go back to the boat. I did see a few turtles while on the island. After doing that, we went to an unnamed island that was formed during one of the hurricanes and spent the rest of the time there. There wasn't much there either. During the entire trip, we only saw two dolphins and a big group of rays migrating. I would probably say that was the best part. Overall, it was an OK trip. The guys that worked the boat were fantastic though and very friendly.

This is the highlight of our trip to Treasure Island near Tampa Bay. We have gone back twice, and the trip never fails to delight. There are boring shuttles, of course, to Egmont Key, where you can see the old fort and hunt for shells. But Island Boat Adventures is more than a shuttle. You start by chasing dolphins, get to feed seagulls who follow the boat, stop to snorkel in shallow water, get out to explore Egmont Key, and even get to go to a large sand bar they call "no rules island". Of course, the exact itinerary will change depending on weather conditions. We didn't get to snorkel on our first trip due to the cloudy water. But the guys who run this boat seem to truly be having fun. They are patient with the kids and make sure to point out sea life as we found it (even hopped off the boat to retrieve a giant lightning whelk). The whole thing is an incredible value for your money, and the operators are genuinely just great hosts. I cannot recommend this adventure highly enough for your next trip - my kids say it is the best part of their vacation.

Originally from Florida, but we were visiting from Kentucky so I had high expectations. This was a clean, well run boat. Dave and John were great-friendly, welcoming but without being super cheesy or pushy. Our only negative was the snorkeling- water was churned up so there was not much to see in the area they took us- do not expect to have Caribbean style snorkeling with tons of fish and clear water in the gulf. Otherwise Egmont key was awesome to explore and we had plenty of time to do so. Found shells, a sand dollar and some great photos! Lots of dolphins on our trip to see and John did a great job sharing facts and his dolphin call :) all the gear provided was in great shape-seemed brand new or really well cared for. There was 34 on our cruise but it didn’t feel cramped at all- lots of seating and places to put things. Extra perk for us was being able to bring our own cooler for snack and drinks-this is a must so don’t skip! Overall great experience that I would recommend for anyone looking for a day of boating, beach and exploration.

Where do I begin? This was one of the greatest "touristy" experiences I've ever had. I'm local to Florida, grew up in Fort Lauderdale and live in Orlando. Took a vacation to St. Pete to knock some bucket list items off, and as an aside, my wife and I decided to go do the boat tour/snorkel trip offered by Island Boat Adventures, We looked at some other options but due to some bad reviews decided to go with this. I am SO glad we did. The boat was not overcrowded at all, and Captain Eric and Captain John were the most down to earth people you could hope for leading the trip! They knew right where to go so we could see some dolphins, and the pacing of the trip was perfect. What you get for what you pay in 4 hours was simply amazing, and is what you could expect for two hours (or less, done that too) at a competitor somewhere else. The stop at the gun battery for snorkeling was a bit murky and beyond their control, but the island stop was awesome! Old cemeteries, chance at shark or megaladon teeth, run down houses, so much history! I initially thought 4 hours for the trip was too long but it turned out to be just right. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to a friend and would do this again. They also offer Jet Ski Marine Tours which we will be partaking in tomorrow due to the positive experience we had with this! Typically you look at a review like this hoping you will find you at least get what you pay for. With these guys you definitely get more than...

By far the best snorkeling experience in st pete! The price is incredibly reasonable, especially when you consider all the wildlife that you'll see. I've snorkeled with island boat adventures twice, and both times I had a blast. We saw multiple pods of dolphins on the ride over to the snorkeling locations. The first time we snorkeled by the bird key sanctuary, which is a guarded strip of beach filled with cool things to find like sand dollars, sea urchins, conch, and lots of other tiny critters. The second time we snorkeled out by the ruins, which is deeper water. Here a very friendly manatee was following all the snorkelers around! After the snorkeling we walked around egmont key and saw the tortoises! The island is rich in historical elements as well and great for shell hunting. Even if snorkeling and adventuring isn't your thing, you can have plenty of fun on the boat. You can bring your own snacks and drinks(including alcohol) free of charge. The captains John and Dave make the boat ride a party with their dolphin calls and seagull feeding tricks. Betty, the business owner and the person in charge of booking, gave clear instructions about how to arrive and what to expect. This family owned business is BY FAR the best I've been to and probably the only one I'll ever book in the future. We had...

What a perfect way to spend the day! Captain Tom and Tanner sure provided a great day on the Calypso Cat for our ā€œGirls Day Out!ā€ The Calypso Cat was comfortable, spacious, and even had a working toilet and freshwater shower for rinsing off after being in the gulf. The crew provided a huge cooler to keep our ā€œbubblesā€ and lunches cold. We went on the ā€œEgmont Key Adventureā€ trip and highly recommend it for locals or visitors. The ride to Egmont is beautiful and smooth and Tom knew where to find turtles, dolphins and even a group of sharks! He pointed out places of interest along the way and gave us some interesting stories about the sites. Once we arrived at the Key we enjoyed gathering sea creatures as we snorkeled and learning about them from Tom and Tanner before releasing them back to the gulf. We found live Tulip snails, urchins and hermit crabs along with some other sea life. After snorkeling we had time to just relax on the beautiful white sand beach, float in the crystal clear gulf, shell along the shore, or explore the old fort and other historic structures on the key. A Day Trip with the Island Boat Adventures team will be a highlight of your time in the area or if you are locals ( like our group ) you will enjoy the ease of being fully taken care of by a knowledgeable...
