I called ahead about the MFA program & the guy was super nice and answered all my questions. We decided to go visit for the first time.
The lady at the front desk was extremely rude from the moment we entered. She had me sign in & as I was doing that she rang us up- I said "oh sorry I forgot to mention we are participating in the MFA program, he's 3 & he's 1" (referring to my kids). This was met with a huff & eye roll as she rang us up as part of the MFA. When I verified she entered their ages right, she again rolled her eyes and sighed. At this point, I said "Mam is there an issue, you have been nothing but rude to us since we walked in the door", she looked shocked & said "well sorry?", I said "no you aren't & this isn't how you talk to people, we've done nothing to you". She tried to be nicer after that but I already felt sour about the establishment.
The play areas were clean. The titanic exhibit was cool to see. My kids loved the car race track & the plane. The dinosaur area was also a favorite of ours. The recycling area/play kitchen/butterfly area was fun & seemed to be popular.
The upstairs had some live fish, a giant craft room, and a party room.
Not sure if we will be returning. Overall was a nice place for the kids. Handicapped accessible. Most of the staff was...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Discover Station was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn other families. The biggest issue? A shockingly rude staff member—an older lady with long, wavy brown hair—who seemed to go out of her way to be unpleasant. From the moment we walked in, she was short-tempered, dismissive, and made us feel like we were bothering her just by being there. When we asked a simple question about one of the exhibits, she rolled her eyes and responded in the most condescending tone. It was uncomfortable and completely unacceptable for a place that I'm paying to visit and is supposed to be welcoming to children and families.
As for the museum itself, it was underwhelming. The exhibits were outdated and basic, with little upkeep or effort to make them engaging. It felt more like a neglected playroom than an actual children's museum. The location only made things worse—it's in a rough part of town, and we didn’t feel completely safe walking in or out.
Between the unfriendly staff, run-down facility, and unappealing location, I definitely would not recommend wasting your time or money here. There are far better options for a fun and educational day...
Read moreThe Discovery Station is a lot of fun for toddler and preschool aged kiddos. The building itself used to be a bank and the vault is still there. The Discovery Station found a fun and creative way to display the vault which I absolutely love. My toddler really loves the car ramp the most. I had to take a star off because the parking is a nightmare. If you don't mind street parking and walking a bit, then you're good to go. But for me personally, I'm the type of person that prefers on site parking, especially with toddler. I had to take another star off because we went in the summer and it is HOT in the building. I'm not sure if they were having problems with their air conditioning that day or that's normal. There are very large beautiful windows but they don't help with the temperature. I'd imagine that going to the Discovery Station in the spring or fall is the most ideal for temperature concerns. Also want to add that it is free for military. We only stayed about 45 minutes because we had somewhere to go. But you could easily spend 2-3 hours here with a toddler or...
