Located in historic Fort Ritchie in Highland Cascade, Maryland, why not enjoy a diverse food menu while you sit in the midst of the site of MITC (Military Intelligence Training Center) or Camp Ritchie as most people are familiar with. You will be sitting above the location of one of the main training facilities at Camp Ritchie. 20,000+ soldiers attended the Camp, many of which served overseas in Army intelligence securing 60% of all actionable intelligence during WWII. Come visit, have a bite and a draft in the Top Secret Tap Room and feel free to explore the grounds and visit the Camp Ritchie History Museum.

A very cool place tucked in the retired Ft Ritchie base. Tap room has good selection of draft, mostly local brews. They also have rail liquors and seltzers. They also have appetizers and sandwiches with sides. What we had ( pretzels, quesadillas and bbq) was decent. But not great. It was priced accordingly, the menu is not overpriced. Service was excellent, I would come back again.

Stop by for a beer after a hike, they have nice variety of beer from local breweries and a great setting. There are tables outside and plenty of room inside. Only four people were there when I was there. Draft beer run around eight dollars a pint, a little more than the other breweries in the area. They do seem to close pretty early.

What an absolute horrible experience! On the evening of 2/1/25 we had one of the worst waitresses I've ever had in all of my years; I think we've been treated better at fast food and convenience store food venues to be quite honest. She was okay at first, then we all ran out of drinks prior to our food being delivered. She put the food down and did not ask us if we wanted anymore drinks. I had to go to her colleague server to return the quesadilla I ordered because it had no chicken on it and if it did very little. My friend and I looked and didn't see any, nor did I taste any. So I returned the food and ordered a burger instead. The burger was very good but the mac n chz tasted like pasta elbows with very little taste of cheese and the cole slaw was extremely vinegery. The mac n cheese was so distasteful that my 7 year old would not even eat it. I then had to go back to our waitresses colleague to get a drink of water. We were completely ignored by this young lady the entire time we were there. My friend had made the comment a few times "and there not even busy." Service was past horrible with her. Her colleague had taken care of us more than she did, and I certainly hope there is video surveillance so the manager can verify these claims on his own. Then when were FINALLY given the check she still had the food I had sent back on the bill. I thought it to be just a mistake and told the waitress she forgot to take it off. She was very combative and said well we did make it and the quesadilla did have chicken on it! I'm not taking it off! So I told her "and I'm not paying for something I didn't eat, please get your manager. She returned to say that the manager said "he was not taking it off the bill because they still had to pay for the ingredients to make it." But I explained I did not eat it . I asked to speak directly with the manager. The waitress returned again and said the manager said he'd only take 1/2 off the price. I again repeated to her I am not paying for something I returned and did not eat. If necessary call the law but there is no way I was paying for it. The manager came out and explained he took it off of my bill. Confirming that this young lady was deliberately trying to scam money out of us. We will never return, nor will our friends or family. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing especially around these parts. I don't think this place will last another year. However, I would like to say thank you to the gentleman server that did take care of us and the manager for being kind, as for the waitress, learn your job. FYI friendly customer service will keep people coming back no matter what, but ridiculous excuses or as it turns out (false truths) will never do you any...

Edit: the original review is further below. Revised review: Went there last night (Friday) and the place was not too bad crowdwise. The usual Friday evening Arm Wrestling enthusiasts on the deck with a about 1/3 to 1/2 the tables and bar seats occupied.

Now to the bad stuff or the stuff thar has has gone down. Almost all of the unoccupied tables still needed to cleared and had old drinks, food, and other residuals on them.

The staff while friendly was total overwhelmed. Which is rather sad. Table service was none existent (waited over 20 minutes for a single beer and menus were not offered and when requested never came).

There seemed to have been three folks working the bar (with the occasional and rare visit to the tables), and it did not work well. There must have been a staff change, because there are now different people, and service went down the drain.

With the old staff someone came to you within minutes after being seated and you had your drink soon after. And that was with a packed house.

/// Original review: Awesome location in Ft Richtie. My only complaint ( and at least for a very important menu item): No Coffee!

The food is great, the people working there are nice and the beer selection is usually great....

DATE NIGHT Friday night! We got there before the arm wrestling, had a couple three beers and some rather nice sandwiches, chips & dips. It was exactly what you'd expect and I mean that in the best way. The food was well made and tasty - Beef & Swiss sando and a grilled cheese was split and the tortilla chips with caso & salsa were exactly the right things to have with the tap beers. There were several, very different groups of people in the Tap Room. I think that's important to point out as it wasn't just one crowd dominating the restaurant. It had a good vibe, very friendly without the usual fakery for tips. The place was quite clean, quick service and, though everyone was rather attentive, they seemed new...not a lot of shifts under their belts. Regardless, we never felt ignored or forgotten...good times! If there is one thing that needs mentioned, is that there is one men's and one women's, single person bathrooms...unless I missed any others. This is a place I will go back to, with the hope that it only...
