The beach was clean, sand was soft. I liked that the water wasn't too far away from where you arrive at the bottom of the stairs. Nice to have the stairs, and not too many of them, either. Lots of huge boulders provide places to sit and watch. There is a lot of parking along the other side of highway 1, and a signal light close by to use to cross this busy highway. There is also an empty lot across the street from Surfers beach at which you can park, if you turn off Highway 1 at the signal at Coronado and make a quick left on Obispo, and go about 1 1/2 blocks. Read moreThis is a gorgeous beach that could not be more convenient to access. It's literally on highway 1, and you can park either along the eastern side of the freeway or on the dirt lot by the skate ramp. There are steps down to the beach if you're with kids or grandparents. Also, if you happen to be a beginner surfer, this is a solid spot to earn reps and not be berated by grumpy locals. If you're an early riser or like to walk, it's a great sunrise/sunset walk.
