On a heat wave day in Aug, we decided to get to half moon bay. We got there around 4:30. There are parkings along hwy 1, you just have to be patient and look around. We got a spot in front of the skateboard park. The sand is very fine, and brown. There is a wide open space park by the beach. There is no shade, no water fountain. People bring chairs to the park.
