Wavecrest Beach — Attraction in Half Moon Bay

Clean and peaceful. Parking lot closes at sunset. After sunset, it is pretty hard to find the way back (up a small slope ) to the parking lot. We did not realize and walked from Halfmoon bay beach to Wavecrest and had a hard time finding the spot where we parked. Luckily the patrol officer was really helpful. She spotted our car in the lot and basically flashed her lights along the shore until she spot us :) Otherwise, it would have taken us at least another 30 min to find...

I really like this beach because it feels secluded and quiet. It’s beautiful and an adventure. There are no proper stairs to get down which is part of the appeal to me. The water is almost always too cold to swim in so I like to find other things to do like hiking and the do have some trails here but they are rough and I strained my ankle the last time while trying to get out of the way of a biker who shares the path.

My time at Wavecrest was great. I got there around one o’clock and found parking easily. What I couldn’t find easily was the beach access. I was expecting some carved out path or trail but there wasn’t one. Instead, I had to traverse a rocky slope thing and it felt dangerous. The beach itself was perfect. It wasn’t busy despite it being a Saturday afternoon. There was no fishy ocean smell and there was no trash. I highly recommend this beach for a...
