Nook and cranny is not only perfect for bad weather days, but it’s a education and sensory delight for any kiddo under 8. We took our 1 year old and they absolutely loved it! We try to go whenever we can now. It’s also a great place to meet other local parents. The two owners have put so much love and consideration into making it a place where play and learning are organic and imaginative. You won’t find toys that “play themselves” here. The owners are career early education educators and it’s obvious that they know how to activate little minds! There are various different play areas, and each area rotates what is available. For instance sometimes the create table is filled with sand and things to play with and other times it has clay to mold or rocks to paint! Just took my son here and from the moment we walked in, it was the coziest, most thoughtfully designed play space I’d ever stepped into.

Every inch of the space is pure intention: sensory bins, a play dough station, an art table fully stocked with crayons, paint, pencils—you name it. There’s a handmade wooden loft (!!), beautiful area rugs, houseplants, and sunlight pouring through giant windows.

The two women who own it are former early childhood educators—and it shows. The entire space is built around learning through play. Imagination and creativity aren’t just allowed here, they’re encouraged in the best way.

We absolutely love Nook and Cranny. It's such a clean, calm and welcoming indoor play space for young kids in Hamden. There's so many thoughtful toys and kid activities. Perfect for toddlers, preschools and young kids to explore and play. It's a great spot for open plan rainy days where you just need a change of scenery.
