Event Date: July 7, 2024 Event: The Bar-Kays with Clinton Clegg and the Northside Organ Trio Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

I recently attended a free concert at the Hartwood Amphitheater on July 7, 2024, featuring the legendary Bar-Kays and the opening act Clinton Clegg and the Northside Organ Trio. This was my first visit to the Amphitheater, and it was quite an experience.

The food vendors were a highlight of the evening. We enjoyed an abundance of delicious options, from food and ice cream to wine. The quality and variety of the offerings were exceptional, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating. Additionally, the event staff did a fantastic job managing parking, making it easy and organized, which also merits 5 stars.

Public safety was taken very seriously at this venue. The presence of county police, EMTs, and fire personnel provided a strong sense of security, and for that, the Amphitheater deserves another 5-star rating.

However, there was a significant downside to our visit—the lawn area was riddled with animal droppings. It was quite challenging to navigate the field without stepping in something unpleasant, especially at night. Due to this issue, I would rate the venue itself 2 stars. It’s crucial for visitors to bring a lawn chair to avoid sitting on the ground.

Despite the drawback of the animal droppings, I genuinely enjoyed the venue and the concert. The Hartwood Amphitheater is a great place for free concerts, with excellent food trucks and strong public safety measures. I do recommend this location, but be prepared for the...

Concert was way too short.

Ended at 9:30

Although they had a recent upgrade to the sound system it's still lacking.

The county really needs to consider a video screen with a camera man.

Speaking with some of the county police officers on site I learned they like when these old school funk concerts are here.

Crowd is great! Not many issues. Folks truly enjoy each other.

More and better food trucks.

Lastly, since the crowd was easy and fun why can't there be more than one concert a summer. How bout one per month during the summer.

Please don't tell me the residents near by won't like it. Please...

It's really is a good time for us older Pittsburgh funk fans..one time a year...

We went here for spin doctors who were amazing. They had a vaccinated area and that was really nice but I noticed some people had very young children who were clearly not vaccinated so you know. We brought cooler of food and came early. I remember a long time ago (years) there was a long wait to get into this venue but that wasn't the case this time. I would still go early for good seats. Bring a picnic blanket as there are no chairs or other seating. This would also be a difficult venue to bring a wheelchair to. It might be possible if you called them about it as I think there's an...

Visited for the first time to see a show at the amphitheater (part of the county’s summer concert series). Parking was well organized and the venue is situated perfectly for a nice family outing. Plenty of room to setup a blanket and for the kids to play, all which taking in some great music. Even though there was a fairly large crowd we never felt cramped. People around us were respectful and kind. Look forward to going back!

I always have a great time when I come to Hartwood acres. I have always had great times here and will continue to come back for more events. I love listening to concerts and seeing ballet here while I sketch people and the sunsets are incomparable. If you’ve never been to this park definitely consider coming here for a summer concert series or other event. You won’t be disappointed.
