We can’t say enough about the terrific job Leslie did in working with both our daughters. Her knowledgeable, encouraging and honest approach made it easy to develop a trusting, confident rapport that allowed Delilah and Roan to each own what were very different and tailored college processes.
With Leslie’s help, Delilah decided to apply to four schools, was accepted at three and wait-listed at one. She worked solely with Leslie on her essays, which we’ve still never seen. They must have been terrific between what Leslie told us and in seeing Delilah’s acceptances even at her reach school, along with significant merit scholarships.
Two years later, it was Roans’ turn. She couldn’t visit colleges due to COVID. That made it harder to narrow the choices and she applied to many more schools. Leslie helped with every essay and application. Roan was accepted to 11 schools, including Yale, Stanford, Duke and Berkeley.
Both girls appreciated how Leslie made the college application process fit into their busy high school schedules. It helped them prepare their application work by having deadlines spread over time, and knowing months ahead when each step, deadline and all materials would be completed. They also liked how Leslie had them complete an assessment and talk about their interests to identify possible areas of study, majors or careers that might appeal.
As parents, we appreciated taking a back seat in the process and not having to remind, worry or add parent-child friction to what already can be a stressful and overwhelming process. Leslie’s knowledge of learning accommodations and what to look at and questions to ask at different schools was extremely helpful in assessing the types and level of support available when visiting colleges. Leslie also helped navigate scholarship options successfully for both Delilah and Roan.
We absolutely recommend Leslie and can’t think of a better person to assist and champion the college process for all types of students. We’ve referred Leslie to three other families who are pleased by and appreciate Leslie’s work and her assuring, matter-of-fact yet enthusiastic approach. While we didn’t explore college options in Canada, two of those families are, and Leslie has significant experience and expertise there.

Read moreLeslie at Watson College Counseling was a tremendous help for our family as we navigated the college application and selection process. Leslie dove in and really got to know my daughter and family so that she could map out the schools that would offer the best education and social environment for her.
During the summer my daughter participated in a weeklong common application workshop that was facilitated by Leslie. Leslie offered guidance on her essay and provided suggestions on the common app questions to help her to stand out among the competitive application pool. While other seniors were scrambling to get their common app and essay completed in the fall, my daughter was able to focus on her schoolwork and athletics. Leslie’s summer application week took a lot of stress out of the application process!
My daughter was interested in colleges in the south and we were only familiar with the big-name schools. Leslie keeps current by personally attending seminars at many colleges and meeting with the admission counselors. This allows her to understand the admission process and standards. At the beginning of our college journey, my daughter had her heart set on one school. After visiting a few colleges that Leslie selected, my daughter quickly realized that these other schools were a better fit. Leslie really understands the student’s needs and helps guide them in the right direction. Leslie made the whole process seamless and took a lot of stress off our family. I highly recommend Leslie at Watson College Counseling to anyone...

She is direct, open, honest and realistic with students, aiding them toward smart college choices to meet their needs and desires. She excels at her occupation and was worth every penny and more because of her inside knowledge and understanding of the college application process. Our son is now thriving at his "dream" school and Dr. Watson was an important part of his college...
