Beautiful bridge and scenery with a little pocket park adjoined. There is a small parking area off the road right near the bridge so you can stop to visit or take pics. There is a safe walkway area next to the driving portion of the bridge.
I was curious what is the reasoning for so many covered bridges up in the NE region of the US. We found this interesting tidbit at a maple farm we visited that stated it helped keep the snow and ice off the bridges which would cause them to deteriorate much faster if they were not covered. Seeing as this bridge is now paved it is probably more nostalgic than beneficial although it probably helps keep snow and ice from accumulating on the bridge and making easier for people to pass as well.
We were only passing through on our day adventures so we didn’t stay long but I would certainly return and hang out and enjoy the view and sounds of the water if...
Read moreI came across this covered bridge by surprise while chasing a waterfall, in spite of what the song says. Walkway available on the side of the bridge facing the waterfall. The view is good and you can see people dining at the restaurant overlooking the falls. Bridge is double wide so you don't have to wait for a vehicle to travel through. I did get to see a Canadian goose 🦆 land on the water from the walkway. I wish there was a walkway on the other side, 🎵 Break on through to the other side, break on 🎵, oops 😬, sorry, because there is a view of the river that would be interesting to see. I'm sure the sunbathers don't miss it. There is a park next...
