My husband is a truck driver and almost always out of town for weeks at a time. He got in early on Valentine's Day, after driving all through the night, and drove to the Hartville Chocolate Factory to pick me up some strawberries for Valentine's Day as a surprise (we live almost an hour away). He got there a little before 8 to find out they don't open until 10. Tired and slightly frustrated, he decided to wait there until they opened at 10. He goes in at 10 to purchase some strawberries so he could bring them home and go to sleep, only to be told that he needed to call ahead to place an order on them and that they didn't have any available on hand to purchase. (Even though when you place an order, you don't pay until you're in person to pick up regardless. And I'm not saying that placing orders are a bad thing, BUT they should have some available on hand for walk-in purchases for cases like this). And he said there was a line of people there with him to purchase as well and they were also turned away. So he placed an order while there to pick up in the afternoon only to never receive a call. So to say we're frustrated with this business is an understatement. I understand they were busy on arguably their biggest sales day, and I'm sure my exhausted and frustrated husband was likely not so easy to work with after everything (i apologize if he was not), but they should have anticipated for walk-in sales as well especially when no one's buying the berries until they show up anyways. He was not aware that orders were required to be placed prior to purchase for strawberries so it resulted in this happening. He doesn't follow a facebook page to see those requirements were needed. So, buyer beware, make sure you call first for your berries, so MAYBE, HOPEFULLY they call you back to...
Read moreThey had a wide variety of chocolates they will never be Gordon's or the Yum Yum tree or any of the other one that I know of sadly they do not learn techniques that everyone else knows I went in to get ice cream and everyone knows you have to warm the scoop before serving the ice cream the prices were somewhat reasonable but the proportions were smaller and if you add in the fact that they don't even know how to scoop ice cream by warming it or leaving a bowl of warm water so that it can easily go through the ice cream before serving it I'm not too confident in the in the rest of their technique as far as chocolate makers and or...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the best tasting chocolates anywhere. Their chocolate is consistently delicious and fresh tasting. I've lived in several major cities that boast chocolatiers but none of them can hold a handle to the Hartville Chocolate Factory. The giant peanut butter cups, almond bark, and the pecan clusters are among the favorites in our family. I also like that you can buy bulk chocolate to make your own sweet treats at home! The staff is friendly and helpful while giving enough space to shop without feeling "watched over". Get on it,...
