Alderfer Auction — Attraction in Hatfield Township

One star too much. If you can't go and physically inspect the items, forget their descriptions. They lie or purposely overlook defects or damage. And they'll adamantly and proudly stand behind their lies. When you try to call them out on this, they say items are sold as is and they take no responsibility for their descriptions. If you read the fine print on their policies, it basically says that they are not responsible for inaccurate descriptions. I had a lawyer read their policy and he just laughed and advised to completely avoid this auction house. As bad as some auction houses are, this one is one of the worst, dishonest as they get. They give auction houses a bad name For sure, they should not sell on internet. Lesson learned for me, but it stung. Stay away, they're crooks *FOLLOW UP RESPONSE posted 1/22/24, to Alderfer's previous deflective response. AND, THEY LIED AGAIN IN THEIR RESPONSE, I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO SEE CHAIR BEFORE PAYING, and I PICKED THIS UP IN 2023. Lying comes so naturally to this outfit. Their response is twisted and a smoke screen for their initial misrepresentation, how and when I received the item has absolutely nothing to do with the FACT that their online description was false and missed (either purposely or by "accident") a twisted back, which they assured me prior to auction, was fine, even after I asked about a potential problem that it looked wonky in one of your pictures. So even though their reply to my pre-auction question was that it was fine and it's just the picture, no crookedness, obviously, didn't mean it was fine, it just means that whoever responded to my pre-auction question, out and out lied about it, because if they were honest, they would have given me the real answer. So, I drove all the way from WI to PA to pick up, trusting their description and their answer to my inquiry; (I had to pay before I could even look at it at pick up), and was in a rush to get back on the road, as I had 900 miles to drive that day, and was still under the impression that it was fine, until I got home very late that night and saw that the one specific thing that I asked about prior to the auction was not as they said. Super dishonest and they won't own it, they seem to have embraced their deceit. It doesn't matter if I picked it up or had it shipped, same outcome, fraudulent description. They are guilty, they know it, so they try to discredit my observation and also the facts here - that's exactly what guilty parties do, they discredit their accusers and deflect from the real story, when they know they've been caught or called out, classic dishonest party defensive behavior. Twisted word salad reply, that makes no sense, that they posted to this email is defensive, false and doesn't address the heart of the problem, which was their inaccurate false description. The grossly construed and unprofessional response to my review, on their end, doesn't change the fact that they're not a reliable online auction; they absolutely DO NOT stand behind their online descriptions, it's even in the fine print on their contract. People need to know this so they don't have my same experience with them. They are fraudulent in their representation of items to potential online bidders, and will continue to boldly and proudly stand by their lies even after they fail to properly describe something. This is how they operate. Alderfer only deserves bidders who can inspect their lots in person. I was told by a couple of PA lawyers that I had a case for fraud here, but the litigation would have cost more than the item was worth, so I'm sure Alderfer plays into this fact with their fuzzy descriptions. This is a bush league auction house that should only do local in-person bidding because they are incapable of honesty, which is not on their radar. And this is my first experience with anyone in PA, and I'm hoping that they're not all this sleazy. SO, ONLINE BIDDERS NEED TO KNOW; STAY AWAY...

Do not put your precious items with this auction house!! The absolute worst place !!!!! We dealt with Tim We had a military collection that we trusted them with. They came to our house to pick up all the items We had a list of estimated worth of the items. We sent them. They never acknowledged it ! They gave out collectibles away for nothing on the first auction , before the second auction of our items we asked to pick them up and they told us no we have to pay 25 per cent of the price they were listed for. They ended up auctioning our items in lot One of our flags was never listed never to be found and got no money for it. We had a cap that had an emblem on it the took the emblem off and auctioned the cap and the emblem no where to be found and when we asked them they said it was fake and wondered where they came from. Never saw the emblem again My husband is from Europe most of the items came from there When we asked about it this they said they have someone that is an expert in the field. But did not want to give us the name of this Licensed expert We contacted Hannes Coombes from the American Auction Association to file a complaint and there is not one person a member of this Association It took her months to get back to us with the same story each time. A very DISHONEST auction house. They never looked out for us as their clients BEWARE
