I'm a long time customer and this has been our place to go with family, friends, date night, you name it. They're getting ready for renovation, so the place was showing years of wear and tear, but that's forgivable under those circumstances. The tall guy--who I'm assuming is the manager or owner-- has always had an unpleasant, smug edge to him as if he is annoyed with his job. He is short with questions about the menu, even about allergens, and he displays a definite air of judgement, but the food was always great, so we always came back. Before making this review I read through some others and saw that he even laughed at someone's child's sneakers. Seriously? Sadly, to my child, he was far worse.
Recently I purchased a $100 gift card for a gift, and on that same day, ate there with my grown daughter, who is trans. The food was great, and the tall guy was his usual unpleasant self. When we stood up to leave, he popped his head out out from the back and looked my daughter up and down while snickering and nudging the other server for a reaction. My daughter was turned the other way and couldn't see, thankfully, but it was clear that this man felt entitled to treat my child (adult) with such disrespect and right in front of my face. I was looking straight at him in disbelief. This is behavior you would expect on the street, not in an establishment where you're paying. I consider this the WORST customer service experience imaginable. We were and always are nothing but kind and pleasant to the staff. Not everyone needs to agree on lifestyles, but the least one can expect while paying to dine somewhere is to not be ridiculed and insulted.
SHAME ON YANTZE FOR ALLOWING BULLYING. If I could return my $100 gift...
Read moreUPDATE: Thought we would give this place another try. WE WERE SO WRONG for doing so. Quality keeps going down. Food was TERRIBLE. Worst American Chinese I’ve ever had. Too expensive, small portions, terrible taste, hardly any veggies or meat. We spent $136 for 7 people and it wasn’t even worth $20. Unbelievable. We will not be going back. It’s official.
I’m going to be real honest here…. I will not give a place a good food review because they have amazing customer service. I just will not do it. On that note I will say this place has amazing customer service and it definitely was busy for a Saturday night BUT… the food was nothing special. It was basic, typical, found on every street corner in Philadelphia, American Chinese Food. Egg rolls were not homemade, same ones you get at every Chinese place around. We got sesame chicken and governors chicken which are basically almost the same dish except one has some sesame seeds on top and the other is coated with some sickening sweet sauce that isn’t spicy at all. Wonton soup tastes and looks just like every other corner Chinese place. Lo Mein noodles were over cooked and all these dishes contained SCARCE amounts of vegetables. Which is sad. I’ll admit I got excited because their website claims they make their own sauce and dishes basically saying they do not use the typical food distribution pre made stuff. It tasted to me like a lie. Food was no different, no better quality, no better tasting than any of the others. Looked the same to me with trace amounts of fresh ingredients and minimal vegetables. Curry Fried Dumplings were awful. We had an extremely large order ordering for 9 people. We were disappointed solely because of what their website...
Read moreNative Lansdalian and went here for the first time ever last night (32 years old). I will never go back unless someone else is paying. First the website menu says they have Peking duck, and with it being my husbands birthday I knew that’s what he wanted. Upon arrival we found out the duck was no longer served. Should I have trusted the website menu as much as I did? Maybe not, but I accepted the fault of my own making and continued our dinner. We ordered a sesame chicken meal, pork fried rice, pork lo mein, and a triple delight meal. We had to pay more for the meal which came with soup, egg roll, fried rice instead of white, and ice cream. We also ordered dumplings as an appetizer. The dumpling where’s the best thing we ordered. The sesame chicken is thing slices of chicken, the noodles were drenched in sauce that overpowered the dish, and the triple delight was mediocre. I did enjoy the rice. We asked for our dessert to go and were given the strawberry ice cream when we asked for a different kind they had. Not only was the food subpar but the service was too. Our server basically ignored us most of our time there. I also informed him of my husbands shrimp allergy and although they accommodated for his main entree I don’t know if they did for his fried rice because the kids had shrimp in theirs. The restaurant needs a huge facelift and the mirrored wall makes the place look much larger than it is. I’m just very disappointed with the visit overall especially for...
