This was such a beautiful hike. Well maintained trail down to a gorgeous black sand beach and stunning views of the valley. There were ripe swings at the bottom and nice a shaded area for resting. If you keep hiking on the other side of the valley, you reach a beautiful overlook with a bench and sweeping views of the coastline. Whole trip was about 4 miles with a 650 foot descent and ascent both ways. We were glad to have hiking boots though. We saw some very unprepared people hiking in flip flops without water. This would have tough in that gear. It gets crowded later in the day so recommend getting there early (we started at 7:30am and we were the only ones on the trail). We came completely unprepared as most of us were in jeans, but the hike was relatively easy. It was steep for the most part, but not long at all. The views were breathtaking from every angle, and the beach was so surreal. Keep in mind, this trail isn't easy and there's no cell phone coverage. Do not be the person who doesn't bring enough water and needs to be rescued. We notice people stacking rocks; don't do that. Don't disrespect the area and the cultural heritage site. The sand dunes are roped off for a reason, and the valley is private land. Help preserve it if you visit by not taking rocks, or changing the environment. Listen to the people at the trailhead and make sure you're respectful.
This beach is not...
