The tennis courts are great but the hours are too short. They need to leave the gate open longer for the people that have jobs and are not retired.
The trails are really nice, though; surprisingly nice actually. A good majority of it is shaded so the sun does not beat down on you the whole time. Just be prepared with bug spray.
I will say that the railing in the newly paved river walk is something you would not expect on a public, high traffic area. Your backyard patio, sure. The inconsistency and variation of post types makes it look super cheap and poorly thought out. Not sure who won the bid for that contract but back to the drawing board Hickory. Hopefully it's not the company that was responsible for the useless...
Read moreThis park or trailhead, surprised us. My family wanted some fresh air and a place we wouldn't have to wear masks at. What we found was a completely paved main walking path, with hiking trails to go in along the way. We aren't from Hickory but I'm proud of the city and the money they are putting in this park. Building ramps in multiple sections in this to what I believe is to get closer to the lake. We can't wait to come back again when it's all finshed. Keep in mind that there are two great entrances to this area, you have Hickory Park and Geitner Park, one on each end. Oh and there is mountain biking trails...
Read moreThis is where greenway trails are, Rotary Geitner park as well, tennis courts, great beginners mtb loop, Spring Loop. It’s isn’t too much incline and really flows. This is our favorite.
